I also don’t picture him as a costumer, but who am I to guess? Downside to farming… I miss out on DragonCon 😢
I can say that I have never dressed up but I have attended a Star Trek convention. Mrs. BY Bob did purchase patterns to make uniforms but it never came to fruition.

Dairy allergies...

I am a lifelong vegetarian, I am not opposed to the idea of eating animals, but do have personal issues/ ideas about it. I eat alot less of the proccessed fake meat things since going gluten free 10 years ago. I do eat lots of real dairy though! I am definitely not vegan.
Good for you. We all get to choose what goes into our bodies. You have decided your diet and it works for you. That's great! :thumbsup :thumbsup

Decent point. I dated someone with full blow cow milk allergies, and I’m highly intolerant… makes me really sick, but not Epi pen allergic. I was dairy free completely for well over a decade, I preferred no dairy to fake dairy. I would rather have coffee and tea black than put almond milk in it (this was before the oat milk was around and it was almond or soy. I won’t even go into the ethical problems with the products either… like deer shot in the fields and not used for meat, all the animals killed by the planting and harvesting process, the transport of trucks full of bees to pollinate the monocultures that have left the surrounding areas so barren that nothing can thrive. Allergies are a reasonable reason, I suppose, and you can also be allergic to some meats, particularly beef (but usually not bison…)

Gluten free is much harder, and I do really respect vegetarians and vegans who commit and manage a well balanced complete diet. I’m not anti veg, just do it realistically and in a healthy way. If you don’t mind my asking, is it a personal lifestyle choice (Keto diet etc), an intolerance (pretty common), allergy, or full blown celiac for you? I worked with someone who was celiac and eventually had to quit working at our grocery store and move to a pharmacy as the airborne gluten from the bakery department was causing her severe reactions (hives and swelling of her throat).

Tax: I’m running out of photos… the weather has been crummy for us and the chickens have been avoiding photo ops because of it. So this will have to do! And sorry Bob, it’s one of my favourite soapboxes, as we all know…

I know this is going to make me sound absolutely nuts but here goes. I've been a nervous wreck all weekend. Today is supposed to be hatch day for the 18 eggs my cousin got off me. I know she is busy so I have not messaged her to see how they are going, but I may tomorrow. These are not my babies so I should not be nervous, but, if they hatch they will be the first Squirrel and Raven chicks. She also has 2 eggs from Chiquita and Branch plus 2 cochin mix eggs. I know she is super excited about these chicks and I hope she has a great hatch rate. In a way I wish she had not reminded me Tuesday when she picked up her 2 dozen eggs that today is hatch day. It is killing me knowing that if something goes wrong I'm not there to hover and try and catch it. Well actually this whole process has been stressful for me as it is her first time using a incubator and she's asked me several tips throughout the process. I've given her the best advice I could but I'm not there to see how her incubator is working. She's promised to send me pictures when they hatch. It is the 2 silkie eggs I'm really hoping hatches. I want to go celebrate with Branch and tell him he's a daddy!
This is totally normal, you’re doing a great job resisting the temptation to go have a “sleepover” lol just because…

:celebrateWow, that is quite a few for your small flock!!! Hope Lilly is abstaining.
LIlly is abstaining. Phyllis is laying way too many eggs right now. That is 3 in three days. She is averaging over 5 a week since the beginning of February. Normally she doesn't lay more than 4 in a week. I am getting concerned and wish she would slow down.

I should have posted this Friday evening, but, in a way I was afraid mom had cursed Branch. I've told you all that she is not his biggest fan. There has been times where I would even say he does not like her either. She would never ask me to get rid of him, but if I did I know she would throw a party. The last month though when she thinks I'm not around I have caught her holding him. She always responds with "I'm trying to see what you find so special about the little jerk". Friday when we were out prepping for the snow we were taking a coffee break on the back steps. This warm weather has had all our boys feeling frisky. The one thing that will tick mom off and me too is if a boy is too rough for no reason on a hen when trying to mate. Of my 3 boys Basil is Mom and Rosie's golden child who can do no wrong. He is still young though and is not a year old for another 2 weeks. He set his sights on one of the cochin girls and she actually submitted to him but for some reason or other he stood on her back and started pecking the back of her head. She started to get up to knock him off when out of nowhere Branch appeared and ninja kicked him off her and chased him off for a good 5 feet. My mother let let out words I never thought I would hear come out of her mouth. She repeatedly kept saying "good boy Branch" and then went and picked him up and snuggled with him repeatedly telling him what a good boy he was. I don't know who was more stunned, me or Branch. When she finally set him down he crowed at her and she was like "yes, tell the world what a good boy you were". When I recovered from my shock I did inform her that she had just cursed him and something would happen to him now. I am joking on the curing part, but yesterday when she went out with the horses for a few minutes in the cold she again held Branch. She came in and casually informed me that she guessed we needed to keep the little jerk. She will never admit it, and may always call him a jerk, but she likes Branch now.
That's just wonderful. What a good boy he is. I am glad your mum is seeing that now. 🥰

Yes, I think they were after chicken food. I keep it in the open wire part of the coop (not the 'formal' coop) My 'coop' has a 4X8 footprint. @ 3' height, 1/2 is enclosed for proper coop. Not the best photos, but this is what I have
thanks for sharing the coop pictures. I have wondered about yours for a while.

Could you please forward me whatever curse or magic spell you used on said Maternal Unit to make it accepting of the Rooster? Will it also work for chickens in general? 😂
