Sorry for the chuckle...you are doing so well holding it together ❤️...but I had an image of a headless chicken running around with a pitch fork trying to muck a horse stall! (yes, my brain sometimes goes strange places.) I couldn't contain my giggle!
Only reason I'm on here is I'm taking a 5 minute coffee break. That is a funny mental image. We are trying, and everyone is helping but it feels like no matter how hard we try someone is suffering for it. The poor horses look neglected. Louis and Russ are in the middle of blowing their winter coats and unlike last year we have not had time to go daily and curry them for about a hour.

It is really hard to get a good fluffy butt shot when all my chickens want to do is sunbathe.
This is the best I have managed to snap so far - catching Maggie as she changed positions to toast her other side.
I wonder if the Hooligans will yield some better pictures. Off to try that now.

Ya I hear ya! It's like herding cats trying to get a good butt shot 😁

I managed to get a twofer chick fluffy butt picture.
These Hooligans really are living up to their name. They seem to have a need for speed and height.

Well I have one angry mama, with one chick… She squared off with Trouble in the meat tractor, so Trouble is now in the bad rooster box inside the meat tractor, Trouble may have been trying to steal her chick but wouldn’t really accept the one I tried to give her. I should have gone with my instincts last night and just assisted the egg and pulled the second chick. I was hoping with night mama would settle and the last egg would hatch. The egg didn’t make it, fully formed and active though the chick inside was, and she stepped badly on the second. Chick that now has a leg injury and is under a heat plate nestled in my sweat pants on DH’s chair. I am hoping the batter holds out and keeps the heat plate running.

Mama completely rejected the second chick and is happy as can be with her one robust early one (probably a boy with my luck). If I had power it would be an easy thing to have DH pick up another two chicks $10each for day olds at the feed store he went to… but the commitment level for keeping a heat plate going is challenging. I think my new plan today is to rip apart my solar system and take the batteries all down and fully charge and test them… I don’t like trying to do this alone with the weight of the batteries and the always mess of the compartment they are in, but I need to get my power system sorted out in the next two weeks anyways, for when the meat chicks arrive.

I also had a sheep incident this morning, and the cattle are trying to come back out here as well.

What breed is momma? She looks like she could be part welsummer, or part brown leghorn, but not really either. IAM assuming she is part Marans, given your proclivity for the breed, but I don't know of any marans that are that color....is there a partridge Marans?🤔 But then, too much gold for a true partridge....:thmentally exhausted trying to guess. So many possibilities.....so little time.
I know that feeling. Where does the time go

All I can say is that if anyone can cope with all that going on it is you.
Stay strong!
