Some very important lessons are being taught today.
Raven is teaching her chick the best place to dig for bugs. She has finally brought it to the back yard and has spent all morning digging.
Baby is teaching her group that the best place to dust bath in private is beside Dirt's stall.
Wow I was a bit surprised how close they were to Dirt's hooves 😲, but I guess they will learn to stay away from them. Got a chuckle over the one chick snoozing on the tarpaulin.

My new little silkie hen Marty freaks me out when she goes under Lulu's belly. I have been trying to make sure she stay clear as she is a bit dumb where horses are concerned!

Oh I so miss having chicks... It's a good thing non of my gals has gone broody 🤗 I would just have to throw eggs under them I am sure!!

(Bad Kelly bad bad Kelly for thinking this!)

Up with my RLS (as usual...) Was looking at the barn cams waiting for my meds to kick in (darn this getting old sucks!).

Noted that my three white silkies are all once again roosting on the high roost. And they always get the good spot to roost and refuse to let the others roost there 😊 for little gals they are the bosses!

So everyone gets a treat 🤗 that is wonderful.

I had 8 dozen eggs, my sister went and took all the pink and 'brown' eggs left the blue, green and olive ones as she stated the one lady won't buy them her kids think they are duck eggs and won't eat them...

My parents would tell me to go hungry!

So now all I have is blue, olive and green eggs hahaha.

Until tomorrow when I will get 4 more pinkish Silke eggs!!!
Other fun egg “facts” I’ve heard since 2019… the blue eggs are much lower in cholesterol, green eggs are the natural colour of chicken eggs and a more primitive egg type, and (my personal favourite) “it had the chick developing inside it” the stringy thingies that centre the yolk or a blood or meat spot are of course a “chick”, guy has apparently never heard of, or seen, Balut 🤢 I collect eggs every day, three times a day usually minimum, there isn’t going to be any Balut on my watch!

That’s food for thought. I was thinking about flying down to San Diego next weekend. I’m vaccinated, but as you say (still caught it) I would be around a lot of people if I went. (Auto auction for a car) and hire a driver to bring it back here. Now it’s questionable if I go. Hoping you get well soon! :hugs
Aunt-in-laws here both caught it somewhere along the way to or at the Abattoir Association AGM here. I am not overly worried about it though…

Mean meat mama (aka Goldie) appears to be going broody again. She pecked the heck out of my hand, is sleeping in the nest box, and farted on me when I tried to check under her for eggs. That is another chicken secede mechanism, lol farting! I might be setting some more eggs soon… she’s strangely a bit better at not crushing them or stepping on her babies, compared to my psycho Bully Girl mama.

My girls occasionally lay an egg with a blood spot in the yoke but they cannot possibly be a chick .
