Oooooh, a muscovy!How about a DUCK Fluffy Butt?View attachment 3106200
Yes, while at first 10 may seem like a lot, I have to remember last years numbers. Overall last year I had roughly between 75% to 80% hatch rate of cockerels. The year before was also heavily skewed towards cockerels. If for once I can stay at 50% or below of cockerels I will be very very happy. That’s still less than 50%… you’re doing good IMO. I’m looking at my two and hoping against hope little fluff proves me wrong shortly about my gender concerns. I might be 2/2 cockerels… sigh… another one of those years?
Yes. Problems is I can't remember what it was!I sat in the run for a while this afternoon. It's too hot for this time of year. The ladies made divots to lie in to cool off.
I have a container that I collect chicken treat stuff in. Banana peels, bits of greens, etc. One thing I thought they would LOVE is old maid popcorn kernels. Nope. Don't touch 'em. I thought they'd flip over corn, but I guess not.
Anyone have a treat that totally bombed?
I’ve taken about 90,000 herbaceous cuttings, but very few actual woody ones, though I usually used #4 Woods rooting hormone before I switched to gel. I currently have Roottech gel, peat moss, and I googled itgood luck with that!Have you experience with woody cuttings before?
General rule of thumb is to take twice what you want/hope to propagate with woody cuttings of plants that readily propagate that way. (I don't know about various dogwoods...hubby is the expert there...but he is gone (again!) for the weekend.
Has DH figured out your bait and switch yet?So, when they sleep, they each lay their head on the other, necks all twined together. I can't get the song "Fire" by the pointer Sisters out of my head.

Oh Alex oh no! I am sorry to hear that...
Eqvalan will cure that, but you will have to dust again I am afraid![]()
So, in other words: more than me in generalI’ve taken about 90,000 herbaceous cuttings, but very few actual woody ones, though I usually used #4 Woods rooting hormone before I switched to gel. I currently have Roottech gel, peat moss, and I googled itworst I can do is fail.
Worry! The dogwood has finished blooming and I plan on making a trip down very soon to attempt some cuttings from the remaining semi-live branch… technically this is borderline illegal, what with it being the official tree species of our province, but as the tree is clearly devastated and unlikely to survive I’m not too worried.
OMG they are adorable! So, when they sleep, they each lay their head on the other, necks all twined together. I can't get the song "Fire" by the pointer Sisters out of my head.
