The Night Owls

@MaryJanet I'm going to keep this going. ;)

The three big girls, Hattie, Sidney, and Aurora (she is clearly bigger than Lilly now), have taken to hanging out af CV thd backdoor until it is almost black out hoping that they might get one last treat before bed time. I have actually taken to calling them the Night Owls. Enjoy.....

LRB. One of my all time favorite bands! Well played.
Really?? They were my dad's mates! He was in a band in Adelaide at the same time as the twilights! They used to go to each other's gigs!

Dad's band disappeared without a trace, they were called The Vikings and also Y4. But he loved playing and got into another band later in life and had a cracking goid time!

No way. That's incredible! Yup huge fan. They just have a great sound. Just this easy cool vibe about them. Mrs BY Bob and I listen to them still. That's so wild.

Dusty Spring "Field"

This headline is a bit of a stretch, but today was all about the dust. A little sun, some drying and true "Dust" Baths.

I had never caught Phyllis in the dirt before taking a bath. I wanted to see how she dealt with those head feathers.

And then I caught 3 and then 4 of the ladies in the garden taking a bath. In My Garden! That had never happened before! Check out Sansa diging a whole and throwing dirt at Lilly in the process. I can't believe she not get a talking to. Lilly was in a good mood today.

I can speak to that. If the chicken is not in a secure raised coop, it's never really safe. Maleficent was proof of that.

I still think it was a weasel but I will never know. :(
You all have me worried. The Chicken Palace is not raised - it has a dirt floor. But it has multiple levels of fortification (and I will add a hot wire once it is finished) so I am cautiously optimistic that predators won't get in. Mice certainly can (I have seen one on the coop cam).

Busy day today and almost nothing from work so I could be outside all day. I pruned the berry patch and sowed loads of veggie seeds and some sunflower seeds for the chickens.
My main chicken chore however was to restock the leaves in the Chicken Palace run from the pile by the barn which is now packed full of yummy wriggly crawly things. The Princesses stuffed themselves. Honestly I don't know how they could get themselves up to roost they ate so much.
I just love the happy little sounds they make picking through the leaves.
