I'm guessing it's either the fan, but it is quiet and gentle. Hattie actually roosted in front of it last night, or the heat. Probably the heat. When they roost it is really hot out. The sun has been beating on the coop since about 3:00. It is smokey in there. Now the fan brings it down a lot. Especially as the outside cools. At midnight last night there was no panting on the roost. Not too bad.

It could also be that they got caught outside messing around late or Lilly decided to chase them out late. I will try and spy on things tonight.
And roosting “outside” means they are still in a protected area.. correct... if not.. then you must be frantic!?!

They are in the big run. It is "safe" but not as safe as the coop. The coop is like Fort Knox, the run is like a local bank.

They are just doing it for your attention... typical teens! Parents are gone for the weekend, “let’s throw a party in the run, stay out late, and generally see what trouble we can get into!” Sigh... they are probably cooler out there though, and look fairly comfortable and safe. I’m sure they will be ok, but I totally get your frustration and anxiety. I hate not being home to make sure everyone is ok! It’s just too stressful. :hmm
