Yes, I think that you will find that happens a lot. I also find that typing text in using my tablet can be excruciatingly slow, and inexplicably deletes several sentences when I didn’t even touch the ‘back’ button! :he Anyone else have this problem?

I’m always hoping my girls don’t go for the bees!

I know what you mean about the slow. I'm having problem's with the typing, and pages here being unresponsive. I think it's probably because of all of the ad's that are here now, plus the animation's. Animation's can sometime's have many frames in their makeup. I used to make signature tag's, so I know about that.

@BY Bob The pullet that went after the bee was one of the Barnevelder's.

Let's just stay in today

When I woke this morning the temperature was just above freezing and the wind was howling. The girls just don't like the wind. Asyou know I closed in the windward side of the coop and run. I figured they would be out hanging around that side of the compound in order to stay out of the wind.

So I powered up the run cameras, no hens.

Panic...... did I leave the run door open?

A quick check and I see I did not.

So where are they?

Many people have asked me why I have such a big coop for just 4 birds. It is 8 feet long by 4 feet wide or 32 square feet (2.4 x 1.2 or 2.88 sq meters). That makes it just shy of 40 sq feet, the optimum for full confinement of 4 birds. Add in the porch and you are over 40. It is rare but every so often I lock them in when the temperature reaches towards 0°F (-17.7 C).

Most of the winter what happened today, will occur.

They will CHOOSE to stay in the coop.

This first video shows Lilly and Hattie hanging out in the coop. Check out the neck contortions Lilly goes through trying to eat the seed block. Maleficent is on the porch trying to come into the coop. Watch Lilly spot her and then go have a conversation with her. Mal was not allowed to join the cool kids at this time.

I checked in again later in the morning. Lilly decided to let Maleficent join the cool kids. Aurora was just hanging on the porch grooming in the sunlight.

The Scrape

I just read the article @Shadrach wrote on the different pecks that chickens have. One of the reviewers, @Momplus1 noted that her pullets scrape her hand when she hand feeds them. Aurora and Hattie both do this to me as well. I am going to try and grab video of it later this week. I would like to hear why Shadrach thinks they may be doing this.
