Thank you! I will post pictures on move-in day for sure. Tomorrow's task is to find branches that will do for roosts and figure how to cut the back off my old kitchen cabinets to turn them into nest boxes.

That is an amazingly smart idea. I love the way chickens help me to recycle everything but you have taken it up a notch. very good.

I love using the birds like that too! With these toddlers theres always little bits of things that would just be thrown away. Some people might believe i give them too many treats but they def eat tons of feed so whatever. Please give them.back their shells!

I save all the shells also and bake them for 20 mins at 350* then i crush em up pretty good and give them out in allllll the dust baths. They always eat a little of their dust baths and it helps cuz i dont need calcium containers. Some people use a blender and ive seen it advertised on etsy as human calcium supplement!

That is a great idea. I have always saved eggshells because they are good for seedlings in the garden - but now the chickens get them back.

Qualies now! We want to hear about birds right? Well Dh cant take care of my birds and i know that. I had no other choice no one in my family will tolerate them at all and for a few mins there i was sayn i was gonna have to sell off Everything, coops and cages included after everything ive invested in this Business im running

I knew he would leave em to thirst and starve so i had to be cautious and added extra waterers and feed. Several babies werent ready for so much water in their home and drowned themselves. Some still have not been located yet but one boy was Reaching in and taking them Out! Dh not keeping eyeballs on toddlers several were from a friend i let her incubate 50 eggs and she didnt do things quite right so there were several problem babies.

Had to set up the whole second brooder box for the first time! Each of these boxes are 4'x2' theyre growing like weeds though and they needed the space. 9 days old today

Its truly incredible how theyve tripled in size since hatch in Nine days

Ive said it before and ill say it again, the quail are so incredible if i didnt have such amazing lines of chickens id nix em all for just quail

They sure aren’t so tiny looking anymore! Amazing growth, especially considering the rough start, and tender attentive care while you were away. Sounds like my chicken friend here (she’s been away since Christmas, and I just recently helped her relocate most of her things... I think her “gone” is sticking) every time she would leave some of her chickens would die. Mink getting in the run, automatic waterers failing mid summer, or special needs chickens not being taken care of as thoughly. But self and babies come first. The not such a good start as well reminds me of my last hatch, the girls are still quite wild, as they weren’t socialized or handled at all really in their first four weeks.

Well, they are not one person but 2 so I wanted to celebrate each as their own person ~ & that was important for their teens but seriously, these guys had a name for their singleness as a twin phenomea. It was a combination of their individual names that they always used to refer to themselves. But it could drive people batty. Who was this 3rd child they kept referring to? And school was a nightmare. They had no idea of personal ownership because it didn't exist in their world. Everything was *ours.* And I had boys. I think girls might be worse.

That doesn’t seem so bad really. Sharing can be a challenge for many kids.

OMG YALL I ALSO HAVE TO SAY I TALKED TO MY UNCLE!!! HE TALKED WITH ME! boy did i cry and his prognosis is still 'ticking time bomb' But hes Fighting! Hes actually out of ICU!

Go thicker than you think you need to! Much thicker... and watch out for sharp little mini branches along the surfaces, sometimes they are covered with bark, and when the bark comes off eventually there’s a pokey bit just waiting to try to give your girls bumblefoot.
