Thank you! The cabinet is inside the coop - but I walled off a small corner to be for my storage, and part of that wall is the cabinet. So the cabinet is inside a (hopefully) predator-proof coop. To collect eggs I go in the people door into this little storage area and open the cabinet doors. Then to visit the chickens I can step from there into the chicken part of the coop and hang out.

Ah, I see. All will become clear when you have time for the tour! No pressure though. The joy of anticipation makes us appreciate it more!

I agree. Your advice is very practical Shad, thank you. And you have shown you’re just a big softie. :p
Me too. I think everyone has hit the nail on the head there. Your contributions are valuable and much appreciated @Shadrach

As far as I could tell, Treacle and Moon have been more or less together all day.
When the entire tribe moves from place to place, either Treacle and Moon are elsewhere or following a bit behind.
It looks like Cillin (Treacles dad and senior rooster in Tribe 1) has accepted that this is the way it is. Cillin can't cope with seven hens. Treacle is doing the bulk of the escort duties while Cillin stays with Fat Bird, Mel, Fudge and Hurry.
Hurry has had what's commonly known as a right result. She's not many weeks older than Moon and Tap but she has become a firm favorite of Cillins. Hurry' mother Ruffles was Cillins favourite until she died. Ruffles and Hurry look like the grey copper Marans one can see in France.
Treacle and Moon. Moon is in the bush.

This is the rest of Tribe 1 at approximately the same time but at another location.

Me too ACM, but I honestly don’t know how long I’ll have her. She possibly has chronic inflammation of her reproductive organs, which may continue to flare up. I will have to just wait and see. She’s got another week of pills and then I’ll have to observe her carefully. She’s such a sweet, cruisey little thing, she deserves a good long life. She’s already lived twice as long as she would have if I hadn’t rescued her from the battery farm, so I guess that’s a bonus.
Would you take more rescues Lozzy?

Calmly Leaving the Coop

After last night's peck-fest at roosting time I was pleasantly surprised as everyone filtered past Sansa with nary a peck.

Looking at this it looks as if Sansa is looking out for the others. Great clip.
The tribes here explode out their coops in the morning.:D

I'm fond of Moon. She is a lovely looking hen but Treacle is one fine looking rooster!

My girls exit in stages. The Campines, Favorelles & Araucanas are usually first up & squawking before the rest even think about putting in an appearance. Lottie [ now the other bantams too] are usually last up out.
