Dear friends, quick question; do stressed chickens stop laying? It would make sense that they do. I have had one egg from my new girls, the day after we brought them home, then nothing. I am assuming it's just due to stress (and possibly Faverolles aren't the most prolific of layers?), rather than any reproductive issues? Apart from a little cramped, they seem to be doing ok and have settled their differences within the group.
Um. YES, they stop laying. I’m sure this has already been answered, but yes.

Damn. I shouldn't have mentioned it at all 🤦‍♀️

The makeup industry (except where it serves the interests of dramatic productions) emphasises physical beauty and it fosters vanity. It drives us to be seduced by what we see of someone instead of that someone's character. It has disempowered women for decades, taking money from women but not men until recently.

These effects alienate people from self-esteem.

I opt out 100%.

I started moisturising when my doctor told me to, but other than this, I flatly refuse to participate in a market that oppresses others.
Good for you! I go anywhere from sweats, no make-up and greasy hair in a messy bun to full make-up, styled hair and a business suit. Depends on the occasion and my mood!

For years I have tried to think of something I could rig up to save small animals that fall in the pool. It hasn't come to me yet.
🤔
maybe something like they use for ducks like a ramp or ladder.
The trick would be to get one end to stay bellow the water while the other stays above . Or maybe you could build something like a boat swim platform except i envision it to stay just below the water so they could get on to it but they could still be above water when they stand. Some stores like West Marine sell materials that are suitable for water environments.

Although I don't even purchase makep, out of respect for everyone else I'm always well-groomed and I wear interesting outfits, even when lounging around at home.

I haven't been able to find any references to this problem with regards to chickens anywhere except the chicken keepers here where I live.

I detest hay and straw. I am not allergic to it, but it harbors all sorts of nasties that bite me. #1 here seems to be actual spiders. Arachnids, *shudder*. I react very strongly to them, and have had one severe allergic reaction to a bite (not quite anaphylactic, but very, very close... covered in hives and unable to stand, barely able to speak, vomiting, and I swole up like a balloon all over). The interesting thing is how much the venom varies from spider to spider, some are minorly annoying, others deadly.
I need to get your book. When is it coming out. :fl
X2^^^ lol. See what happens when you mention books to us? No, we don’t have reading/book/chicken addictions at all!

Ok... I’ll try to be better with photos. Buttercup says hello! We *finally* had rain, so her foot feathers are dirty. 😊

She’s gorgeous, and a little heavyset looking.... how much of that mass is feathers though? I do have to say her face reminds me a bit of my CX ladies, Gobbler and Shanti.

Of course now I am dying to know what your extreme views are! Given that everyone who responded basically said they don't wear make-up, it is hard to imagine what could possibly be a problem. Maybe you believe that nobody should leave the house without a full face on? Somehow, although I don't know you in person, that seems like a highly improbable view for you to hold!
I’m one of those maybe if I have to for a really special occasion people too! Lol it has been over three years now for sure, maybe four or longer since my last evening out with face paint on! 😂 I don’t think the lack of makeup and chickens is closely related, but tonight I had to check my freshly washed hair for chicken poo, so maybe there is some slight connection after all?

I just knew you weren’t a ‘full face’ person! I think I last wore make-up nearly 40 years ago.
