Yes - as I moved them I was trying to scoop up beetles that were trying to get away - it was a lost cause but there were plenty left along with lots of yummy wriggling worm-type things. So a good time was had! I need another 3-4 logs to complete the ring that will hold in sand, but I need a break as they are not exactly 'feather weight' to move around and because of the hill I also have to dig them in so they don't topple over. So I am taking a cup of tea into the Palace and just going to chill for a while.

I've still got a guest.

I was going to put Mel, she is under there somewhere, back in her coop this evening. What I hadn't counted on was Lock doing a disappearing act at roost time. I know she's got a nest out there somewhere but she is also laying eggs in the coop. I have found her and put her back in her coop minus the eggs. What I'm concerned about is she was only sitting on four eggs. This is concerning because I usually spot the outside nest makers as I go about the place. If I see a hen away from her tribe at some point in the day, I take note of where and when. Over a week or the probability is I will have seen the hen going to and coming from her nest and will have heard any escort calls. I usually know where the nest is and have seen it before two weeks have passed. In four days of casual obseving I doubt I will have seen enough to place the nest, I'm going to have to follow her next time.

You have some very interesting fabrics I have noticed (sorry being nosy but we see your house a lot given the chickens have moved in). I don't mean Mel's blackout curtain (aka towel) but you have saddle bags and the wall hanging and I have noticed some lovely rugs too. I have a bit of a thing for that kind of fabrics

I don't mean Mel's blackout curtain (aka towel) but you have saddle bags and the wall hanging and I have noticed some lovely rugs too. I have a bit of a thing for that kind of fabrics

I made the blind, I made a few in fact many years ago, but they don't fit the windows. I had thermal blinds in my flat in the UK and they weren't very pleasant to look at.
The rugs were my mothers. They are Persian wool and silk. I can't have them on the floor while the chickens are coming in and out but I put them down most winter nights after I've mopped the floor.
The saddle bag I got in South America. I had to leave a lot of stuff I was quite fond of behind when I moved here. I had to reduce 11 cubic meters of stuff to 2.5 cubic meters of stuff when my things got sent out here. Lots of books I gave away to friends and family, tools I wish I had brought with me and some furniture I had restored.
I like a home. I'm not the type to not be bothered by what my environment looks like.

Yes. I've noticed too. I have been trying not to be rude & nosey~parking too much but certainly some lovely things! I appreciate beautiful things, whether they're chickens or rugs & have got great pleasure from Shad's pictures!
