Crazy Busy

It has gotten crazy at work. I did not see the ladies yesterday and only got a few minutes with the ladies this morning. I did note one thing, Sansa and Sydney have gotten particular in the corn they eat. That's right, like Maleficent, Aurora and Hattie, they are also picking the purple corn out, eating it first, and leaving the yellow corn behind!

I guess it must really taste better.

Well it does have better nutrition and protein than yellow corn. They're just trying to eat healthy :)

Now that was a serious piece of metal. Who needs seat belts in a car that hard. :gig

How grateful we all were just to have a car, no matter how old or uncomfortable. Just the freedom to go.
LOL - As a teen I got to use parents 66 VW bug. Had to park it down hill hills so you could pop the clutch to get it started. Top speed was about 50mph (ask me how I know) . No heat. Loved it. It had character :)

Moon is having some problems with Mel. It seems from watching Mel before when Tackle was broody that Mel thinks she should be the one in the tribe who sits and hatches. Normally this would fall to the most senior hen but Fat Bird is out of the running. Since the death of Ruffles this leaves Mel a second senior.
Moon is still acting broody although she doesn't have any eggs. Mel went for a full on ground scratching flying attack today; twice!
Moon is the most junior.
During the second attack from Mel, Moon jumped onto the back of my chair and stayed there for quite some time. She's in with me tonight in the nest box which is empty. I think, as soon as she stops showing broody behaviour Mel will leave her alone.

Poor Moon. Too sad.

Feels like Saturday to me :idunno. I saw a cute (?) covid video on youtube "Does anyone know what day it is?"
I always have to check the cell phone to see the date. I don't ever call anyone with it - I hate phones. But my son got it for me months ago, and my brother was able to put it on his account for $ 10 a month. I have a landline and like it just line for 50 years. Only use it to make appointments. It rings 4 times before asking callers to leave a message. Mostly get hangups.
I too was assimilated LOL . Is it a smart phone ?? I do like the Map feature , Step counter, and texting. I can send someone whats on my mind and they can reply when they have time. No trying to catch up with each other.

Hey Bob. Haven't been around in a while. Busy spring.

I can't find the post where you told us what video equipment you use for your chicken coop. I'm so sorry to ask again, but could you remind me what that is? We have our new coop and I'd love to see what's happening in there. None of my chickens want anything to do with roosts and poop boards.

I use Arlo security cameras. They are battery powered wireless cameras. Although I did purchase a wiring kit back when I was trying to identify what took Mal from us.

A camera will be the best way to find out what is going on.

So Many Eggs

I have been so crazy that I forgot to collect eggs for a couple of days. Last night I remembered. There had to be 16 or more. I carried 6 in by hand and went back out with the basket to get the rest.

The most interesting thing was the new nesting box. I thought that only 1 hen was using it. The nest in it is high walled and perfect. Therefore I knew for certain that Aurora does not use it. She destroys nests. I figured it was only 1 hen because these nest was so specific. Well with multiple eggs in it, it was clear that more than 1 hen likes it. I think that it is Sydney and/or Sansa along with Hattie. I will have to look closer and watch on camera.

Oh, Moon is such a sweety!

So Mel is giving us all pointers on how to "break" a broody? We just have to run at them flapping and squawking whenever they sit?
