This was Fat Birds eye condition this morning before treatment. Yesterday it was completely covered in bubbly liquid and more swollen.
The eye got another rinse out. I use cotton wool soak in PH neutral eye wash and sort of dab and squeeze to flood the eye. Now it's less swollon I can see a small cut on the lower lid and another in the corner of the same eyelid. I administered a single drop of Oftalmowell eye treatment and off she went to join her tribe.
Just done her again this evening but can't get a decent picture. The eye is much better; more eyeball showing and the bubbles are gone. The small cut in the corner has bled a bit which is good because that will help clean it.

Poor Fat Bird. Could it be a bite rather than a cut? Just thinking about the bugs you removed. Those could be secondary to the cut - but could they have caused it in the first place? Hope she is on the road to recovery.

It could be. I don't know what has caused this. The swelling kind of suggests a sinus type problem but nostrils are clean.
I shall still probably take her to Gloria the vet.

That is very cool. Funny how the brain works. :love
Goodness you are right about how the brain works being funny. At least my brain!
It was only after reading about Mrs BY Bob's ordeal and reflecting what a pretty name it is, and how she is pretty like her name, and letting my mind wander all over the place that I 'remembered' that my other grandmother was a Rose.
To be fair to me, she went by 'Rosa' rather than Rose. But still. Duh!
Clearly next time I expand my flock I expect one of the Littles to whisper that her name is Rose.

That is very sweet.

It's quite swollen isn't it. Has she been grumpier than usual?

I have a whole bunch of funny photos and a few stories from my coop from over the last week or so. I haven't been sharing them as it feels insensitive to do so, especially as there has been so much illness and worry going on here. Plus I didn't want to detract from Sydney's hatch theme. I'll share at some point though.
I appreciate your consideration of others Ali.

But it would be great to read what your hens have been up to lately :)

I tried a quick headcount and I think there must be 60-70 chickens kept by the byc friends so there will always be a sick (or worse) chook among us.

Hey Bob, my Old English Game Bantam, Gracie, just had chicks hatch!
I love watching the little fluffers navigate the world with their momma, it's too cute :).
I'm glad your chicks are doing good, love reading your updates!
O my gosh! This chick thing is addicting. Welcome to the club! I'm going to need more updates! They are adorable. :love
