The Little Ones

Here were the littles the night I took the roost picture.

Last night they slept in seperate boxes. I need to watch that. Why would they be separating at night?
They look hot to me. Maybe they're cooler in separate quarters?

The first proper scuffle is a heartbreaker.
Oh boy - I must say I am a nervous wreck with the scuffles!
The Littles are being quite annoying (I can totally see the Princesses' perspective on that). They are rowdy, noisy and get into everything. They are also amazingly fast. Dotty's sport is slalom - dodging between Princesses. I swear she does it to annoy them.
Maggie is going after both of the Littles but so far they manage to scuttle away. Everyone seems somewhat bad-tempered. I am sure the heat is not helping.
I don't know why it started now all of a sudden - the Littles have been in there from day 5 and nobody was particularly interested in them and now it is mayhem. I am definitely not removing the fire-escape just yet as they definitely need a place of safety!

Everybody needs to find their place in the flock. It will settle but it may take some time. A bit depends on the breeds you have too. Campines upset everybody by being noisy & flighty. My Wyandotte bantams get on with everybody. Try not to let it upset you. It doesn't upset the chickens. :)

Thank you. I will try not to fuss too much.
I am thinking the little ones must have Campine blood: noisy and flighty captures it well! And they really fly. The Princesses were older when I inherited them but they never flew like these little ones do.
Minnie is making a habit of flying up to my shoulder or head.
She isn’t as big as she looks here. It is camera angle. Hard taking a picture with a little chicken on your shoulder!
