Can never have enough Fluffy Butts! Thanks, Bob. Like Shad I have trouble keeping track of the days but I saw someone's post & managed to grab a shot of a couple of fluffly butts.
But that was how I knew it was Friday yesterday.Even after I posted some of my rare rooster butt photos specifically for you?
That's a great picture Bob.What was that Sound!?
I caught Ned and Lucky standing together late in the evening, when there was a funny sound from the other side of the yard. I think this is adorable.

Maybe there isn't enough meat on him yet.Standing Sentinel
It feels a little early to me but I was briefly watching the flock out in the rain yesterday from the coffee pot. (I had to get away from my desk for a moment.) When I noticed Ned taking Sentinel duty. Unfortunately my phone was on my desk so no photos. He stood just out from under the magnolia tree on the pool cement in the light rain, erect, still, and alert.
He was clearly on duty and Hattie was off scratching and playing with the other ladies.
I remain impressed that Lilly has not felt the need to kill him as she did Jabberwocky. Either Lilly has softened, the fact that he is Sydney's boy has protected him, or he is going to be a good dude and she sees that in him already.
Heat makes their poop runny. Why does the heat make for dirty butts? I will go and do a Princess butt inspection this afternoon - but we were out together on the lawn investigating the war-zone and I didn't notice any dirt.
Fantastic shot. Calendar material...yes?What was that Sound!?

Not sure about the galvanized bit Bob. I won't use them here and not will many other chicken keepers. The galv is poisonous. Big clay dog bowls might be a better option. All of the diarrhea from them trying to keep cool in the extreme heat had created some messy butts. I think im going to do a large galvanized trough of water and have some fun with everyone.
None of the chickens here are keen on the rain, not even a relatively gentle shower.Sydney does not normally mind the rain but it was nasty. She wound up under a chair that is not water proof so she was still getting dripped upon.
That's funny. She's raising him until she can feed everybody in the flock.Maybe there isn't enough meat on him yet.
