I'm not surprised. Chickens are very clever. I have a hunch their unfriendliness is about survival. Once they learn something or someone is not a threat, they become very endearing. This is unusual. That's Notch with Knock! Notch has taken to waiting for Tribe 1 to go to roost and then brings his hens around. Donk is hovering outside.
There was a time I was very close to giving up on Notch. Every day he would try to attack me at some point. Now he's a bit of a sweetheart. Everybody here told me I would never bring him round but there he is and I can reach down and pick him up without any fuss if necessary.
He's the third so called bad rooster that's turned out well with a bit of observation and understanding and believe me when I write he was a nightmare.

Wow - I thought I was joking! The time when that is a practical solution isn't far off. My Finnish friend has a small system that he says works well.
Any idea why so few? Who is her rooster? Maybe he needs a checkup.Only five of her eggs were fertile.
What a wonderful picture of BLU! Phyllis is swooning right now!Phyllis, That guy may be handsome, but I still have my feelings for you! (And I have meally worms and other treats, I'm saving for you) Please don't forget about me! "Signed BLU"

Doesn't that also cause problems with the hatch rate? Sydney was never off the nest that long.I did. It took a few attempts. Usaully a hen here leaves her nest every day to eat etc. Tack didn't; another area of concern. She would stay on the nest for a couple of days, then take 4 to 5 hours off the nest on day three. This of course makes following difficult.
You are a special man working with roosters the way you do. I am constantly impressed. This is unusual. That's Notch with Knock! Notch has taken to waiting for Tribe 1 to go to roost and then brings his hens around. Donk is hovering outside.
