I didn't get any pictures of Donk's nest. I forgot to take the camera when I cleared out the eggs.
Of course, Donk is still laying and she's got another site, probably where her daughter Knock is laying. It was just too hot to stand about outside waiting for one of them to go and lay. Donk did go into the coop tonight though. If I'm lucky the pair will wait to sit until Sunday which is when the weather people say the temperatures will be bearable.
Tackle has been in all day and a good part of it confined to the pet carrier. She's been very patient and tonight got into the nest box at dusk. She's had about two hours of the day out and about in my house. Thankfully there is a marked improvement in her walking tonight.
The problem with her limping so badly isn't so much any pain she may be in, it's she wasn't keeping up with the tribe. A limping hen on her own is hawk bait. She needs at least to be able to move from cover spot to cover spot and the past couple of days I haven't been here enough to watch out for her. Tomorrow should be better.
I gave her a dose of Metacam last night and another this morning which seems to have helped.
This was her last night.
This is her tonight.
