Good luck with the nest hunting. I'm glad she is wising up.

I am starting to fear that my ladies are laying under the deck. I may have to pull up some deck boards! :barnie
Oh that is not good. During an earlier phase of construction the smaller Princesses took to laying eggs under the floor joists.
There were 10 or more there before I figured it out. Poor Maggie was the one that gave it away. She is too big to fit in that small space and was making a hullabaloo about not being able to get in there with her sisters.
we had to attach wire to the underside of the joists.

Wow. What's with all our ladies just now? Hepzibah is a given once the weather warms up but Ha'penny? Again? Alpia? Wrold? And a large Brown egglayer? Half Bob's entire flock & a variety of Shad's?
Insanity. I've never seen Sydney on beakbook but I may need to watch closer.

I wonder why they lay in various locations?! Mine always lay in the nest boxes...
Right now it is a combination of things. Everyone was laying in the nest boxes until:
  1. Someone was stepping on an egg every so often
  2. Sydney starting trying to hatch again and took everyone's favorite box this time
  3. They are having tons of free range time. From at least 8 am until they put themselves to bed.
All of this resulted in:
  1. Because of the broken eggs I stated being aggressive at collecting the eggs
  2. I removed the ceramic eggs so Sydney would not try to hatch them
  3. They have access to many other choices in egg laying locations. Frankly mine seem to like the creativity that affords them.
Phyllis is exceptionally creative. I think the others tried to keep her from the nesting boxes early so now she is reticent to use them. I have found a long as that white ceramic egg is in the 2nd nest box, Phyllis will use it pretty reliably.

I need to retrain her now. I may need to deny all of them free range for a day to remind everyone about the coop. 🤔

She’s so lovely. :love I’m glad she came to live with you.
That was all Mrs BY Bob. I did not think it would work and still can't believe it has. She is super resourceful and finds a way to get her share. I feel very safe in saying that she is the best Omega hen I have had.

I also know that whenever we add again, Mrs BY Bob it's going to push hard for another polish.
