I did. There was only one breeder and she ignored my callsWell, We're not like America yet where you can get everything & varieties thereof. I have to keep some sort of list of breeds that might work or I'd like to try & hope one or 2 are available when I need to replace.
MJ has had terrible trouble trying to get Cream Legbars & I know she wants them & they are on her list.
Sussexs are big girls. I've sort of avoided them for that reason. I have enough big girls in my flock for the present. They are supposed to be wonderful hens though.I did. There was only one breeder and she ignored my callsI'm thinking of sussexes next, although I really like bitzers

It's a question of balance. More big girls = less space for everybody. Despite the amount of roosting space available I still have roosting issues. Get 3 girls on my top bar & there's a squabble for who else gets to roost up there.I feel comfy with big hensPeggy keeps me on my toes whereas Mary lets me relax.

Space is very important. I'm convinced more space = happier hens. It's a question of balance. More big girls = less space for everybody. Get 3 girls on my top bar & there's a squabble for who else gets to roost up there.Plus my small girls eat less so I can afford to run more chickens. The big girls I have are the calming influence in my flock but I don't need a lot of them to achieve that.
That's good to know! I'll take my chances though, because I'm really enjoying Ivy's broody spell. It's given her more trust in me and I can pat her while she's standing near me now. I couldn't do that before.Light Sussexes are broody....
So am I.Space is very important. I'm convinced more space = happier hens.
That may change again when she's no longer broody. My flighties resume their flightiness once they get over being broody but they are very handable while they brood. That's good to know!
