I think I got Polish - but Easter Egger's are hard because they don't look like each other. Claudine (Claudine! ) is also an Easter Egger I think and she is nothing like Aurora!

What do you mean RIR's are bred to die young? I never heard that before.

New Hampshire red breed does die young.

Lavender is a Frizzle.
They are a breed in Oz & some parts of Europe but not in America.

My sad old brain needs to take it slowly - so taking on new knowledge takes me a while.
I think I can add Barred Rock to my list because I would be able to spot Stanley and Ned from a mile away.

It is what the vet told me when I took Maggie after she had two lash eggs. He said they were bred for production and not expected to live for more than 2-3 years. I have researched it since and got really angry at the breeding practices of the hatcheries. Apparently there are 'production' lines of Rhode Island Reds and 'show' lines and the show lines live a real life.
I have no idea what Maggie is because I adopted her from a school project - but I am sure they just got TSC chicks which are likely production line.
