Deana is a Rhode Island Red like your Maggie. She is nearly 5 years old.

I hadn't factored that I might have to learn different breeds in different countries! If you don't mind, at least for now, Alice will be simply Alice in my head not a breed.
I love Deana, she looks more mellow than Maggie who is honestly a bit of a spitfire.
I suspect that in Australia they haven't turned the Rhode Island Red into a production breed like an ISA Brown. I am happy to see Deana live a good long and happy life.

Once again I am way behind. I'll be the voice of (semi) reason. If you haven't already decided, I'd say if you really must have one, then wait till next spring. Everything will be working for you . ie weather , the ability to integrate with more space, etc
It was a close decision and I wobbled for a while but I have held off for now. I am so very weak though. I put what was best for the flock first. That is what I am supposed to do, right?

Maybe subconsciously I got my thing for Claudine (Claudine! 😍😍) because of Maleficent.
But seriously I am going to keep my breed-learning focused on breeds that tend to look similar. And anyway, I thought they laid pink eggs not brown ones.
Well played! 😆

Bob, I speak "chikkin" so well they give me the eye like "she's a new breed and BIG!" My roosters sometimes mistake me for the hens when I cackle....lol
:gig that's funny! What are they saying when the hens are cackling? I've always wondered.
