This young hen is responsible for all the mixed breeds here. Her name is Mini Minx. Mini Minx could pancake.

She's dead now but not forgotton. The chicks were the first cross breeds. Beano, Dandy, Otic and Where. Where isn't in the picture. She got called Where because mum and the rest would move on and Where would suddenly notice she was alone and say "where did everyone go?"

The title of this picture is "if you don't feed us something nice we'll get our dad."
It's the same three. Where, somewhere else as usual.

Here's dad. His name is Major and I still can't write his life story. He was the first here that took food from my hand and is responsible for my chicken obssession.

Mini Minx is very lovely. That pancake shot is outstanding.

Major was a real looker. He had wattles for days. Thanks for sharing. I've notice you mention him before. It is nice to meet him in photo.

I love all the pictures of your chickens Shad but that picture of Mini Minx is something special. As is Major. So handsome!

Thank you for the encouragement Kris! I hope if/when more things go wrong there will be enough right in place that the chickens can manage until I can fix it.
Your story is awesome, in the old sense of the word. I don't know how you manage so many chickens PLUS building everything including your own Big Coop. I was picturing you trapped under the tractor with the chickens talking all around you. They probably were in Chicken EMT mode, figuring out what if anything they could do for you and realizing there wasn't much, and giving you directions and encouragement. Could your DH lift it off of you enough to squirm out, what happened? 😲

Don’t worry your chickens will be just fine, I’ve seen some survive fairly awful husbandry here... with a little care and attention they thrive, with love and spoiling they thrive and become little feathered Monsters! As to my flying tractor experience, it took some time but I managed to wriggle my leg out from under it, it was a lot of squirming in the mud and my boot was stuck underneath. I was on the phone with DH when it happened trying to troubleshoot the flying housing situation, because he was in Town. It was pouring rain, and we live on an island. I’m pretty sure the chickens were not only traumatized by the experience, but also picked up some interesting language as well!
