I'm having trouble getting a picture that illustrates the problem well.
Mag is the rooster on the far left of this picture. You can just see that his comb is dull compared to the other two.

This is a bit better; Mag in the middle. You can see that his comb and wattles are paler and more purple than red.View attachment 2467512

As you can see, Mag is behaving normally and his tribe don't see a problem apparently. Odd to note that Lock, left hand lower corner doesn't lay eggs but has the brightest comb of the group.

Shad, yes, Mag’s comb is quite evident. Also, maybe Lock has male hormones!

Nope! Not a peep from him. This is the first I am seeing any rooster behavior from him. So far it seems to be going well without Stanley.

I feel like a video of Ned crowing would cheer us all up after the news on Stanley. Pleeeease!

That is one nekkid chicken! Poor dear... this is the only thing that makes me sort of agree with the heated coop idea to a degree. Why lose all your insulation when it is so cold out? I thought they were supposed to molt at the very beginning of winter!

There is something messed up with this chicken molting thing. At least for Northern hemisphere birds, you would think July/August would be the best time for a chicken to molt and here we all have them molting in December. Maggie is just finishing up and Diana and Elizabeth just started molting. It is insane!

A bit hard to be sure - but that doesn't look purple like no-oxygen - it looks pale. Which doesn't mean there is nothing wrong, but suggests it isn't a heart valve issue.

Thank you. I always find losing birds difficult but @ least my vet keeps chickens herself so understands it is traumatic. She's very good that way.

Yes, the group of us that started out together tends to be bad about which thread we post on because we know the others will catch up somewhere along the line. Now the group is bigger I try to be more thoughtful.

The colour doesn't come over very well in the pictures.
I'm still looking at other possibilities.
