She also claimed top bunk for her egg this morning forcing Diana down to the lower bunk. I know it is Dotty's egg because as usual it is covered in s**t (I am really hoping she will grow out of that, but I suspect it is an anatomical issue so will probably be with her/me for life).

My lone Aracauna does this too. My only blue egg now & always needing to be washed! :(

Oh dear. I was holding on to the idea she might grow out of it. :(
I think I need to keep paper towels in the Chicken Palace as I keep getting it all over my hand when I pick up the egg. :sick
Minnie has only laid two eggs so far and both of those were clean apart from a small blood smear.

Ice Ice Baby

We are having a big ice storm today. You can see it building up on the branches of the birch tree. I have to watch that tree as it has split before. Despite the nasty weather, the ladies have still been leaving the complex for short bursts to grab some seeds or grass and then head back in.

Do you compost? You could wipe it off with kitchen towel and put it straight into the compost.
