Time to visit a chemistry supply or local “head shop?” Lol those 0.001g scales are not quite a dime a dozen here, but pretty close to it!
There is a grow your own shop in a nearby town. Maybe I'll check it out. Be nice for the chickens to try out a different drug to the dewormers and coccivex.:p

Ok catchup tonight... this is a quick coffee post before I head down to “help with the tree”. 4 hrs and they haven’t gotten fully through it yet. I have a vet appointment for Roostie, 5 phone calls and a good degree of begging later. Scheduled for Monday the 11th, and let’s just say I might not get the phone bill paid this month and I’m going to be advertising my eggs very soon... fingers crossed this vet is a great one, and not some speciesist “just a chicken” sort. Thank you @ChicoryBlue, after the 2018 Corridor debacle and the Duncan Vet that will see livestock but won’t make an appointment and is never available I had given up hope. 💕❤️💕

That little bit of orange is the top of the Tractor on the other side of the tree! And DH (5’10ish) texting excuses last night about why my mom wasn’t coming for dinner... 😆

Wow. What a monster!

Well cross your fingers everyone, I've got the incubator up and running. If it continues to maintain its temp and humidity readings I will add eggs around 9ish tonight. 6 Marans eggs from Holly x Drumstick and 4 Maran mix eggs from Butter x Drumstick. It is a bit sooner then I originally planned to set the first round of eggs, but I've never used a incubator before and this is my trial run. I've gotten requests from 3 different local people who are serious about wanting Maran chicks so I've got to get this figured out. It will be nice if my birds can start contributing to their feed bill.
Good luck! :fl :fl

Standing Watch

Everyone knows that Hattie is the flock's designated sentinel. Lately Sansa has also been standing her turn lately as well. Well here's Hattie standing watch on the deck in yet another rain/ice storm.

I tell bad stories of how mean Aurora is too everyone. Well on this day she ate alongside other hens with no pecking or chasing.

Of course I am not sure how comfortable Sansa and Sydney were with Aurora standing over them, lurking like this, but there were no incidents. Aurora was very well behaved.

Love these, love Aurora's whiskers, and that she was well-behaved!

I've been thinking of something like this. If you put some straw in the bowl and weigh them at night, it might not be too much of a struggle.

I just use the human scale and hold them........

Doesn't Dr. Mark weigh them?

Wow! That is a whopper of a tree.

I am so excited that you found a vet! I hope they are every bit as good as @MaryJanet vet, Dr. Mark.
