15 minutes typing on my phone... gone! Grrrr
Ok, so the Roostie news is not so positive. Bear in mind he was a “free” rooster. $70 ferry trip, $100 exam fee, and I dropped $100 on meds.
It impossible to tell if the infection has made it into his bones without $145 on an x ray they could do today, but if it’s operable the surgery would be booked in a few weeks and be $500+ minimum. There would be a better than average chance of him not surviving the general anesthetic, and they can’t do that invasive a surgery without putting him under. After discussing with Andrew we agreed that we couldn’t afford that much for him.
The vet was awesome, was fine with all the measures I had taken so far, including my illegitimate use of enrofloxacin. I was very, very clear that it’s something only use in my birds that are not contributing to the food stream. More to follow posting so I don’t lose this much of the update as we drive to deliver some feed... stay tuned, it’s not all as grim as it sounds at this point!
