Awww, that is just so adorable. He is still at the rescue until he has his surgery. I've been told that he is the sweetest boy. Even during wound cleaning and potty clean up he just purrs and rubs his head in your hand. He wants to be petted while he eats too.
BLU asked, "I didn't see her in the video, Where is she?" (He doesn't want much, does he?)![]()
BLU sends these :(Gonna cost me a fortune on postage)

That is a very pretty Fluffy Butt!Alrighty. I have hit page 400 in this thread but being so focussed on catching up (and there is still a lot to go) I feel I am missing out on interacting with the ‘now’ thread and what you guys are sharing so I will try to switch between.
Apologies I keep posting replies to things from a year or so ago! I know it can throw the flow of the thread off but things I have come across in my early @BY Bob thread trawl have resonated with my current situation so I felt compelled to comment/ ask questions etc.
I already feel I have learnt a lot by starting at the beginning (page 1) on here, my flock dynamic with the new pullets being one of them, so thank you to all you guys for posting such informative and uniques observations in here.
I know I am new to all of the threads but I want to say a big thank you again to @MaryJanet for inviting me to join her flock thread when I joined BYC recently, which has now led me to here also ☺ and thank you to @BY Bob for letting me join his flock and read about the happenings on Fluffy Butt Acres
I realised just now that I never asked if I could join in. MJ asked me into hers and then I kinda just smashed my way in here and I apologise for such a impolite entrance and etiquette.
Anyway, to show my appreciation I took the first fluffy butt shot of Snow ever today (she’s 11ish weeks) even though her tail is covering it a bit but I think I have discovered that she is last in the order and my Belle (Babybel) is perhaps second even though she is smaller and very ADHD (plus being cheeky and so cute)
Thank youThat is a very pretty Fluffy Butt!
I will only speak for myself but I like when someone catching up causes us to look back in time. I had forgotten some things and found myself happy to be reminded. Welcome to the flock (Tribe).![]()

I go by the ever so scientific classification of "Animal, Vegetable or Mineral". If it can visibly move on it's own, it's an animal. It’s an interesting debate, but probably not one for these forums.
Collins English dictionary gives this as first definition.
An animal is a living creature such as a dog, lion, or rabbit, rather than a bird, fish, insect, or human being.
We are already in trouble. Why aren’t humans listed as animals? You can see where this argument leads. Not a debate for this forum certainly.
If one kept only fish and in casual conversation mentioned to someone you had to go home to feed the animals you may get some odd looks and a comment such as I thought you only kept fish.
On the Ministry Of Agriculture forms here you are asked what animals you keep. Bees and fowl, which we keep are not listed in the animal section. So, here and in many other places, insects are not generally classified as animals. You would not should you only keep bees, say you had to return home to feed the animals.
So, at best, animals is then left as a very loose description of all living creatures except strangely humans. Back to that tricky subject again.
So, my view is, given what we know about evolution, we either include all creatures as animals, including humans, or we use another word, or be species specific.
It gets more complicated. Our classification of species is still largely Darwinian. No doubt he was a clever man but we have, or at least science has, moved on and our knowledge increased.
Chickens get referred to as birds. But, if the theory is correct and chickens were in fact a type of dinosaur which had small arms that later developed into wings and given most would acknowledge chickens have never flown like most other creatures we classify as birds, then it’s hard to see how the classification as bird is reasonable.
So, if chickens are birds then animal doesn’t seem correct. If they were dinosaurs, then they are animals and not birds.
Here in Spain and in the UK chickens are classified as fowl. Fowl is used to distinguish a number of species from birds. Perhaps this is the best compromise.
These brought back memories.Ok, so on MJ's thread, Bob asked to see a picture of me in mediaeval garb. This post is rather long so I've plonked it on Bob's thread, as he asked (plus I got myself confused as to which thread I should be on!) Anyway, mediaeval SCA photos from eons ago (ACM may be willing to share a couple too!). One of them is rather obviously "buxom"; I will hide it under a spoiler.I've included some general ones so that you get the idea. (I've scanned them in so the quality isn't necessarily that great). I sewed most of my costumes myself.

Can she wear an overnight nappy?Alright, I finally got a semi decent nights sleep, now I’m looking for some suggestions (unconventional person that I am) on my goat keeping. This is totally not “Backyard Herds” or “Farmer” appropriate.... I’d get laughed off that forum for sure! Arduinna peed the bed the night before last, significantly. She was curled up next to me, and wow, did she ever let go. I was suddenly sleeping in a giant puddleAfter most of yesterday’s adventures in the truck and cat carrier for driving in town she’s finally settled enough in her crate to sleep on her own. The first few nights she just wouldn’t sleep unless she was snuggled up to me, and with the “mama” Bleeting, no one was sleeping.
So, she is in the cat carrier for the night next to our bed and blissfully quiet; pee problem solved? Certainly not! She peed in the crate, which was full of Hay, but this meant she was laying in it... the pee and pee soaked hay... she doesn’t smell like the forest anymore. I need to shampoo her. We are looking to get a bigger crate for her, but what to do in the meantime? The whole lower half of her was soaked as are my pants from trying to towel her dry and give her her morning bottle.
Any solutions? I can’t just toss her outside at night, and I can’t let her free range in the trailer, there’s just too much for her to get into that she shouldn’t, and boy can she jump. Not to mention Charlie is not a huge fan of her and isn’t afraid to show it with his claws. I am thinking maybe some drainage holes in the crate? Slope it a bit and raise it above a litter box or something? If I can potty train her like a puppy it won’t be as much of an issue, but so far I’ve had very limited success in training her to pee on the one shirt. Open to ideas/suggestions. I really need a bigger crate as well, she can’t stand up in the cat carrier.
Now, I need to get cracking on the chickens! I’ll pop in a little later for my laundromat goat adventure, and now everyone knows why we were at the laundromat! Our mattress is pretty old and crummy, so I’m not too worried about it, some spot cleaning and we can always flip it over. I’ve spilled worse on it (shrimp gumbo leaks)
