Mine lay in dishwashing bowls so it isn't a hard surface under all the shavings. They rarely dig all the way down to the bowl though. You could put a rubber sink mat down, that would be more washable.

Wow. So all that black is dried blood? Wow, that is quite a battle wound! No… That was just a torn comb with blood all over the place!
I do that too but give them oyster shell as well. Choosy ladies like one, then the other, then both.I just save the egg shells from the ladies, crunch them up, and feed them a bowl at their choosing. (They eat them too)![]()
Mine have had lopsided crops every night. They are hogging down big time before bed.Definitely no on the mice in my case. I have a camera on both feed stations and the bag of feed is in a steel trash can with a tight fitting lid. No mouse poo either. I think they really are guzzling.
I noticed this evening that their crops are HUGE like they have been stuffing their little faces to bursting point!
Didn't stop them wanting a bit of a treat as they went up to roost!![]()
It looks very well built. Very sturdy. I think they are going to love it.Today's progress:

The legs look uneven, but should accommodate for the slope of the ground. Our yard is on a hillside and we want a level coop.
I love math. Trig, Geometry, Calculus, Quantum Mechanics. All easy as PI! just saying.
