A Brief Adventure in the Wayback Machine to Prove a Point

Mr Peabody, I think we need to go back 4 years ago to a time without the big coop. We need people from other parts of the world to understand why the prediction of a groundhog and/or hen is so vitally important to us.

March 14 & 15, 2017
March can be beautiful with an early spring like this year or winter can pound us like it did in 2017. None of us really want massive snow storms to occur this late in the season but they are not that uncommon. Check this one out

It started snowing on the 14th.

It snowed all through the night. This is what I woke up to on the 15th.

The old prefab coop. I think Daisy, the greatest hen ever is standing on the ramp inside the coop.

The best storm total I could get with all the blowing snow.

Mr. Peabody let's jump back to March 11 of this year.

It was a hot one that day. Thanks to Pennsylvania Phyllis, it has already hit 80°F (26.7°C) this year, back on March 11th.

Let's head back to today Mr. Peabody.

And instead of 21+ inches (53+ cm) of snow, the tribe is enjoying this. Thanks Phyllis. 🥰

HI everyone, hope everybody had a great weekend. I'm a bit behind and have to catch up. It took a few days but think I've finally figured out the right dose of insulin. Almost half of what I was on before the pump so spent the weekend dealing with a few lows. It's tricky to find the correct dose as activity, hormones and stress can also affect sugar levels. So what is working right now, may change in a week. Anyway, I took some new pictures of the chicks today. They are 4 1/2 weeks now and would like to know your opinions on them, 5 out of the 6 are for sure boys, but there is one that is questionable, but leaning towards a boy as well. If my suspicion is correct and this batch is all boys, so far this year out of 10 chicks hatched, 8 of them have been male. Someone shoot me now. Momma hen is going strong on her 7 eggs just about 10 days I think in. And tonight I'm loading up the incubator again, not sure the exact number I'll set but I have right at 2 dozen marans eggs and may toss in some of the other girls eggs as well. Will post the pics in the next post.
Will you be using this method permanently now, or will you be getting a new pump? It seems the pump makes everything so much easier.

Where are my friends? I witnessed my neighbor friend go back to the hospital in an ambulance late last night. I’m very worried about her. And all her animals. Going to feed them now, but I’m very confused as to what to do next????
you peeps are my friends. Any ideas??
I'm so sorry Alex. I'm at work which is why I wasn't available. I'm so sorry. :hugs

I am clueless about sexing chicks. I can’t tell them apart until they are grown and someone starts crowing.
But I had to comment anyway because your chicks are so cute! ❤️
