Happy mugshot Monday for those still in Monday!

He's teasing @ChicoryBlue. By the time @WhoDatChick's newbies or mine get integrated they have already been seen & intermingled with the main flock for weeks or months & full integration tends to go really smoothly. My first integration I did exactly what @BY Bob is implying as I had no choice & while it wasn't awful it's the worst integration I've done because I threw a whole lot of strangers into my girls home! The last twice, as WhoDat has done, I've had young pullets in a separate coop & the main flock has been able to see & hear them long before they get to mingle. It sounds impressive saying I just throw my lots together & they all get along just fine but it's quite a bit slower than that! 😁
Thanks, @Ribh!

A Treat from the Vault

This video is from 2016. I found this in an old email today as I cleaned out my email box. I had no idea I even took this. It is the Big 3, Daisy, the greatest hen ever, Patsy, and Lilly dustbathing in the original run extension with the prefab coop in the background. There is no sound and it is 4 min long but watch for a while. They were such a great tribe. 🥰

Mugshot Monday - Queenie and Butters getting in an evening chives snack in the light rain before heading to the coop for feed and bed. Somebody has been laying a soft egg fairly regularly, I'm suspecting either Hazel or Butters. Today it looked to me like Butters' comb isn't as red as the other Buckeye's. I'm trying to figure out who (if it's just one of them) is laying them, watching who is in the nestbox and checking for eggs when they leave, before somebody else goes in. Yesterday and this morning there was evidence of a soft egg laid on the roost that was eaten (yolk bits in the roosting poop tray and on the bars) and one actual soft egg that fell down into the tray and they couldn't eat. I don't think it's Queenie. The Buckeyes are ten months old May 6.
Butters has little light ends on some feathers on her head, you can see in these pictures.

What is it about dust baths that is so amazing to observe?
Great vault find!
