Great day with the chickens, but darn, darn darn. Heavy winds came up just now, and my chickens don’t like wind. I had to bring the littlest two inside.

Ruby has had a great day. She foraged all day long, and I saw her soaking up the sun at least a couple times. She’s already put herself to bed with Millie (almost four hours early). I’m so glad she had this day.

Mine don’t like wind, either. They are afraid of it!

I'm so glad she sunbathed and enjoyed herself. Maybe that water concoction did the trick to give her foraging energy!

I am. I truly am jealous. Nobody gets off easy if they want to join Fluffy Butt Acres. The current members make sure of it.

Her girls just get along so well and welcome others so easily it's nice to know there is a little angst. I don't want there to be an uproar or anything just a little acknowledgement that this momentous thing was a little hard for them. Just a little.

You know perfectly well my flock isn't perfect! After all I have a Gloriana & those Vorwerks!

Okay...why is it my girls try to eat the long grasses and then I have to extract it from their beaks because it is stuck and they either cannot swallow it all, or have 4 inches dragging out of the side of their mouth???
Maybe mine really are bird brains...

I remembered that and kept an eagle eye on them. I need to try and get video of this but they have a ‘twist and snap’ movement to get the seeds off the top without getting the whole blade of grass.
The road runners don’t do this (maybe they haven’t learned yet) and they didn’t show much interest in the long grass.
The other three though were at it all day even though it was nearly 90 degrees and they were panting.
I gave them an ice cream treat (frozen kefir and whey - lots of protein and probiotics) to cool them down.

Question folks???? One of the chicks has discovered how to rip news paper-- I have caught her in time 3X'a before she ate it. I am guessing here, it wont hurt a week and a half chicks to eat it will it??? She might if I am not looking

Answer: Only give them news worth reading! (Wall Street Journal ) Is better reading!

It won't hurt them.
