it was pretty easy, we used cedar poles mostly with a few other branches on the roof.

I've been watching "Tales from Green Valley". Five history experts live on a farm for a year living as people did 400 years ago in Elizabethan times.
They do a lot of restoration work including building "wattle and daub" walls which involves weaving fine branches through poles. That's what your lovely gazebo reminded me of.

Have a look at the back of Alice's head.
Since her last moult she has had a few much lighter feathers there. I think it looks odd. It makes the rest of her feathers look dirty.

She also has a bit of a "puff" of feathers just below each ear. Like a mini version of Aurora's muff.

I really didn't expect them to love it as much as they do. We cleared that spot last summer and I had intended to do a flower garden...silly me. I quickly realized that would never work with these ladies of mine. I plan to cover the area with mulch to try to steer them away from my landscaping in front of my house

Maggie has started standing on the arm of my chair or on a little table beside me. Actually a nice compromise.

Here's the best explanation of my feeder cover, sorry about that @BY Bob! A picture's worth a thousand words....and I'm incorrigible in the opposite way!

So the bottom of this extra-large and deep cat litter box was their dustbath box in the tractor when they were younger and smaller. They had a block as a step but they didn't need it, they jumped up onto the edge. I kept the top off most of the time (they didn't go in and out through the flap, but that would be cool if they did). Notice the space under the handle. So the bungee cord went through there.

The run side, with Hazel. The water drops you can see are on the underside. It rained again last night and it's pretty dry in there. I remove the feed when I check everyone at night and bring it back in the morning, to discourage mice. That green cover to the right is a cat litter container (I think Cat's Pride) cut and wedged into the wires keeping the grit and oyster shell dry. It was previously a seedlings holder and it eventually began to leak, thus the warning "leaks!" written on it.

Names at last

This is Katydid. She's the most inquisitive, always trying to figure out what's going on and willing to jump to find out. She's very orange.

This is Shirina. (With a soft r). She used to enjoy being held, but now likes to jump away. Feathers coming in white in the front and black in the back.

This is Alba, named for Tyto Alba, the scientific name of the barn owl. She has a very raspy songbird voice and gained weight very fast.

This is Rime. She likes to scream and squirm when being moved. Feathers are coming in all white.

This is little Platina. She's been getting a lot better and now only has an occasional cough. Her new favorite thing is running away when we try to give her medicine.
