Final Roosting on BY Bob

Every night when I bring the girls inside from their little run they roost on my arm. When we get to my office then they hang out on my arm and from themselves, even nap for a while.

Here they are last night. For the first time someone slips off my arm.

Because of that they adjusted their roosting location. I was a little worried about my head. 😆 After all there is precidence.

Bless them.

They adore you the one is saying he's mine back off. They really are beautiful :love

I agree with BYBob. They seem to be mingling peacefully while out and about. Hopefully the coop integration should not be too stressful.
I see this as more like Queenie merging with @ChicoryBlue buckeye flock. Just let it go at this point. That was a very mature integration.

I have some cat nip. :)

I'm thinking that a feather could lead them too think little birds a fun game. So not using a feather at all
Okay, thats not the case for any cats here. like i explained my cat and others most likely dont consider the to, plus, their probably more so afraid of chickens and such.but again, like i said, you dont have to do it if you think your cat would get aggressive over a feather:) i think it also depends on the cat, so you know what yourslikes andhow theyd react!

Tentative Integration Plan

It breaks my heart but the littles are too big to remain in the indoors brooder much longer. I'm going to miss their little voices and our evening perch time. 😥

I have a basic outline of an integration plan. Phyllis roosting in the run, by her choice now, provides some opportunity and potential complications but I think I can make it work for me.

It is supposed to be chilly yet tonight so I will be moving the littles out tomorrow morning. I'm going to put an escape door across the nest boxes so they can get away from Phyllis. Then tomorrow night Phyllis will join them in the coop.

In the morning I will let Phyllis out and leave the littles in the coop alone. I will probably repeat that for several days. Then I will segment off the big run where the Cluckle Hut is and let the littles have access to the big run.

After they demonstrate that they will go to bed in the coop, then I will start providing evening access to the yard where the big girls roam.

All this time I will have Phyllis roost in The Hut with them each night. Provided nothing untoward occurs I hope to continue that through the full integration.

I will be moving the heat block out for the littles. I expect they will sleep under it at first before roosting. Additionally I have purchased a coop heater as it will be getting pretty chilly and I don't want anything happening to them.

What does everyone think of the plan?
Sounds good, reading ahead to see how it's going!

That is beyond adorable! And Sylvie's head-gear is hilarious (though I bet she can see better than Legertha can). Love how she keeps fighting sleep and then gives up.

At this point I would let them figure it out. They have to establish their own order and as long as no one is getting hurt I would let them get in with it. Moving one in and out will only confuse the issue further. It will settle in a week or so if you just let them get on with it.
And remember these wise words Bob as you move forward with the littles.
