Be still my heart. Is that a Brown Leghorn on the edge of the photo? ❤️

Yes, I have 6 that are 24 weeks old
I just love the color in their feathers

Quite simply, poo on eggs. As long as no one is laying eggs it's no problem.

I think I may go with multiple options for them and let them figure out which works best for them. I just need to figure how to rearrange things in the coop.
I like having a walk in coop, I know you have a different set up. But, every morning when I go out, I make sure there is no poo in any nesting boxes so the girls have a comfortable spot to lay eggs

dda0577edc6a2c8ddd7b3ada32cf1416.jpg ok, all caught up,
boy the wind is blowing this morning a bit more than yesterday,
So..... last evening after it got dark I went out to close the coop door and for all of you
"no sleeping in the nesters" hahahaha
I promptly picked up Granny Violet and put her on the back roost, then I picked up Cinnamon & Nutmeg and put them on the front roost, said good night girls and shut the door. At 5:30 am when I went out to open up the coop everyone was in their spot on the root just as I left them.
So, all was well in the coop. I did only get one egg yesterday but I think the hard wind has a lot to do with that.

Rain, rain rain. Finally!! :wee:celebrate:yaThe chooks don’t like being stuck in the coop, but there’s no option for them today. I have to go out of town today, so I will make them some steak and scrambled “children” (throw in some corn and meally worms) too!
Yay. Rain.
:ya
