This is very true. They go off feed and eat what helps them to grow feathers. That's why next year I'm switching to feather fixer in September before they start molting to pump up their protein reserves.

Good idea. I couldn’t get feather fixer for some reason but I assume starter/grower would work fine as long as it’s not medicated.

Poor girls! At least you don’t have snow yet!

We have gotten significant snowfall on Halloween before. I need to get the pool closed today for sure.

So I can’t get photos of the chickens right now, as they are still sleeping. And it looks like we’re going have a beautiful sunrise. But I can show you this, which is chicken related. I’ve been giving them one small tray’s worth of these wheat sprouts every morning for a little while now.

Remind us before you do it, Bob. I might get some, too. I do mix layer and grower feed diuring molt, but would like to try feather fixer if I can get it. One year I tried a Manna Pro performance (pink) pellet mixed in (just a little), but I have no idea if it helped.

I definately will. I'm actually putting an appointment in my calendar to be sure.

I think I used a little of this, based on the feed store’s recommendation when they did not have feather fixer. I will read up on it some more. At least there’s a chicken photo on it.

I love that! Maybe if I sprout them, my chickens would know what to do with BOSS.

Ok, it’s still dark, but I need to walk the dog. Off to don a headlamp and grab poop bags and a leash.
