I looked at Beetov-Hens grave tonight, while tucking in the others. It’s dark outside, but I imagined her standing on top of the grave , saying “goodbye daddy , I didn’t get a chance to tell you that “ :hugs
How is her sister today? Did she roost tonight? Having pets can be very hard, they r family after all.

Say Again?

Does anyone know what my ladies are saying here? Maybe @featherhead007 could check with Jaffar for me.

It was single digits in temperatures when I took this so maybe they are saying something like.....

It's so cccccccoooooooolllllllllddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

Mine sometimes do that when they are 'content' and roosting at night...every once in a while while perched and 'chillin'/napping on a nice sunny day. I think it is a good sound :)

GASP!!! Alex! I am soooo sorry! I thought I was up to speed, but did not know she died. I knew she was unwell, but missed this part. I am so very sorry.

Can you believe this just happened?

I’m ready! Hubby came out and was laughing his butt off at me… he had to take a photo. He used my phone, which had been in my hand as I was on BYC. This is where I was when someone made an alert call.

My chicken's alarm call is harsher &'more urgent' than what Bob's chickens were doing. What his chickens were doing is kinda like what mine do sometimes at night just AFTER the fruckas when they have settled down and are content. Some do that and some do a soft 'cooing' sound.

Mine have a few different calls. The ground predator or general alarm call is so loud, it’s hard to distinguish from the egg song.

This one is very quiet; I believe it is quiet so only the chickens hear it and they take it seriously. The aerial predator call is similar, but louder and higher pitched… more of a trill.

She’s roosting right next to her new friend Rocks-Anne tonight. 👍 but I heard Jaffar gurgling his throat again, so he’s inside with me tonight. (Movie night I guess) I gave him some moxicillin in his meally worms. Seems to stop respiratory illnesses in most cases for my babies. He’s resting completely comfortable on my shoulder at the moment.
