I can’t recall if I shared this one of my little crate goat… lol but she decided she wanted the top bunkView attachment 2985032
And while Daddy was away she literally stole his spot in the bed…View attachment 2985033
And Jimmy… lol loves eating, just not spaghetti! It’s one of the few things we’ve offered he has refused, so sometimes Arduinna still gets it as a special treat!View attachment 2985034
And it’s quite Possible that Rose might not like Jimmy so much in person… he is extremely fragrant, but I am now completely noseblind to it. Lol
I will let her know that but her love of goats knows no limits.

I got her two for Christmas this year!

And the diesel heater is a dry heat, so way less condensation and mold! As for the toilet… we’ll I had to pull it out again, there were some “structural issues” with the flooring of the bathroom due to liquids. So although the toilet thankfully still functions… there’s a stylish new 3/4” plywood slab as a floor, with liberal amounts of “what I had on hand when I fixed it” (interior acrylic latex) caulk. I am going to be in the house this winter, so it will hold for now! Today’s House View attachment 2985042accomplishmentView attachment 2985043 we have basically full coverage of the first floor with plywood and tomorrow I’m covering it with housewrap (just for the rainy season, until we can get it dried out and a roof up!) and yes I know that’s not flashing Tape, but better than nothing… View attachment 2985048View attachment 2985047
And I accidentally loaded another Jimmy pic… I need to practice more to remember how to use BYC!
It gives me such joy to see the house going up. Not as much as you for sure! 🤣

It is going to be so beautiful when it's done.

And if anyone is wondering the just tacked in place plywood by the ladder is covering some I ram out of 2x10’s and had to improvise with some 2x6 joists, I’ll replace the plywood and cut to fit when I get around to replacing the undersized lumber… it’s an attic and not really a load bearing area… I’m also cutting up our trusses to make them fit and will be adding two knee walls over the interior load bearing walls to support the rest of the roof, creating a 12x40’ attic storage space.

And where did you gain all this engineering and carpentry knowledge?

The school of you tube! Lol, that’s where I’ve mostly been internet-ing since I decided, I don’t care if I don’t get help, the house is getting done! I’ve been a bit of a home improvement and renovation nerd since I was about 10, so that helps. Also, with a lot of the framing done, it’s more of a “I KNOW how to renovate things” situation… move this door there (and make it 36”), take that wall out here, and put a closet there… what I don’t know, you tube helps fill in the gaps. The trusses have me a little concerned, but I think we can make what we have do what we need. You should have heard some of the “discussions” we have had! And I’m pretty sure our neighbours have and they are a good km away… Anyhow, I’m off to bed, but very happy to be back, and I am going to need a couple quick catch ups, because I don’t think I can find where I dropped out…

We can get you caught up. Lot's happened here too but nothing like what you have gone through. I'm off to bed as well. I will sleep well tonight because we caught up some. You were missed. :hugs

Also, I cheated a lot… the studs from the walls I was pulling out were scabbed in to make the new walls, and everything is toenailed and assembled in little bits I could lift on my own…
Very smart! You have that gene like my father! Well done! 👍

OMG I so want goats 🤗

Hi everyone. I hope all is going well. It was a terrific day with the girls. You know what? I think the veggies I’m grating for them might be making them healthier. That combined with the spring-like weather we are having (drought in California is returning to scary levels after a completely dry January). Today there were two eggs. The youngins seem to be coming back into lay. The almost 5+ year olds? Not so much. 🤣

In other news… we might have a place to move to!!! The best part? The owner who lives next door is excited for chickens and tomatoes!!! I think it’s going to be OK. It’s only 7 minutes away from here and we’ll still have a bedroom for my son to come home to from college. We’ll be paying 32% more in rent (ouch) for a slightly smaller place, but we’ll just have to not be so spendy on other things. And my chickens will be welcome. 🥰 I’m actually kind of excited.
Wonderful!
