Did Betty Lay?

She was acting like she wanted to lay. Here was Aurora's egg in the nest box earlier today. Look how pink!

Notice how Aurora has removed all straw from the nest box so it's just the way she likes it.

Here is what I found at dusk.

That's right, 1 white, 1 pink, 1and 1 beige. The white one is a polish egg. Is it Betty or Phyllis?

Let's compare. It weighs exactly the same as Phyllis egg from Thursday, 50g.

However, it does not seem to be quite as white as Phyllis' eggs. Here are 3, 2 known Phyllis eggs and the egg from today.

To me it seems a little creamier than Phyllis' eggs. What does everybody else think?

Is that egg from a different hen?

Another guess, based on the feather in the dusk photo: Betty!
Also, someone has absconded with the blue fake egg. Fair exchange?

Today Popcorn gathered the three fake eggs and one golf ball together in a nice group at one end of the nest box, but laid her egg all by itself on the other end.

Oooh, it just might be!!! It’s the same shape as the white egg on the left, but I think it could be Betty’s! It will be fun when you get two white eggs on tge same day.

Ih my gosh, it’s the dorkiest thing ever. Her real name is Bridgette. I like classic, older names for chickens, and the barred rock feathers reminded me of a briquette,, so I picked Bridgette. LOL!!!! But now she’s just Bridge. Or Bridgey. Or Bridgley. Or Bridgel. 🤣
Sing us the song again! :bow:love Please

I’m so pleased with myself… I actually remembered to take photos today! The only one I didn’t get was Little Mill (Millie, short for Mildred), because she was laying low most of the day.

It could be Phyllis at the beginning of the colour cycle… sometimes they can lay slightly darker after a day or two off or first thing in spring, some of my Marans crosses can do some whacky paint jobs, occasionally I get one that looks half dipped in darker colour on the fat end and lighter on the pointy with a distinct line… I’ll snag a pic if it happens again. And Tailless will vary quite dramatically in number and density of her dots

My sister-in-law lives in Vancouver and was freaking out about all the flooding this year. And then the crazy snow!
Don’t forget the summer heat dome, droughts, etc… 2021 just generally was a crummy year. We are still working on repairing some of the roads here and sinkholes. Like 10’ square sections of the road just gone… I will have to get a picture of what the floods did to our beach, that and what the little tsunami warning from a few months back managed to wash up. Our beach looks entirely different.

The snow was honestly not that bad it was the full week of intense cold (for us) we have a relatively high homeless population because of the mild climate and it hits them especially hard. And us suckers living in RV’s or with not properly insulated well houses and shallowly buried water lines etc…
