The interrelationships in the tribe are very interesting now. Betty has been seen hanging out with everyone but Sydney. Sydney is not a Betty fan.

Betty has the same boundless energy that Phyllis has. So there are times when the other 4 are laying around digesting, sunning themselves, or preening that Betty and Phyllis will be off on their own together. That makes me happy right there. Because Phyllis used to be on her own at times like that.

Phyllis' issues roosting in the main coop go back to right after she tried to hatch in nest box 1. They got really upset about that and she has been not allowed to sleep in the main coop ever since.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry about all my thumb typos.

Fun project! It turned out fabulously.
Now Lexi the dog and I have a new fame called “Chase the Rat.” I ask her “Wanna chase rats?” She perks up and runs to the door, I grab a bright flashlight or floodlight and then I say “Get it!” and open the door. We both go running out there to see what we can see. We went out four times last night. I would not have seen a single rat except Lexi was chasing one all over! It ultimately jumped into another brush pile, so I have lots more work to di. I’m interested in a Black and Decker alligator and Scotts 7.2 pruning shears for this job

@micstrachan I hope you used this to your advantage: Projects are always a good excuse for more or better tools!!!

Maggie
I hope you all don't mind but I am going to post some pictures and videos of Maggie over the next few days as a pre-death memorial.
It seems she is just too ornery to die even though the vet says she will soon and offered to euthanize her.

Here is to you Maggie - a life well lived however short.

@RoyalChick
I am sooo glad the vet was wrong - I really enjoy Maggie in the present...with her antics and 'loud & proud' attitude! (and reading about her past antics, too!):love:love:love

Wow, now I feel bad for griping all day while working outside at my grandmothers. The past 5 days it was in the low 70s. Yesterday it was raining and humid and the horses with their winter coats were sweating just standing in their stalls. Today, 48 and supposed to be like this until the weekend when it hits mid 30s for a few days. At least I was not dealing with the evil S word.
When I say the temp here is on a yoyo, I'm not kidding....year round....

But we agreed she is still enjoying her chicken life and so there is no need to end it today. The vet is only about 20 mins away and can euthanize her at short notice if her quality of life goes down.
Meanwhile, she seems to be enjoying herself.
He gave me a few things to look out for if she is feeling unwell, and in the meantime I plan to spoil her rotten. Corn? Meal worms? Banana? Blueberries? She gets whatever she wants!

I'm sorry you are coping with this. I know how you feel.
Maggie is so lucky having you , she's got for now and will have the very best you can give her. :hugs💓
