I love the idea of Thirsty Thursday. But in the meantime, here are some Fluffy Butts for Friday.

Birds of a Feather

"Birds of a Feather" is a popular phrase that seems to be somewhat rooted in truth. It was the principal behind my desire to add another Polish to the tribe so that Phyllis has a companion.

For two weeks Betty and Phyllis lived together separated from the rest of the tribe. They roosted together although Phyllis was not kind to her at roosting time. Betty still eventually would wind up next to Phyllis on the roost.

Since they have all been joined together Betty has been roosting with the main tribe more and more often. It started out as an occasional night on the main roost. Then it was every other night. Now it is most nights. She has even roosted next to Aurora on the high roost. Last night she was snuggled next to Hattie. (Bonus fluffy bums on Friday)

While Betty is frizzled she still "looks" more like Phyllis than the big girls yet she is choosing to hang out with the big girls at night. And they are not running her off like they do Phyllis.

At this point it has to be personalities right? This cannot just be about looks. Betty looks nothing like everyone else.

Ah! So a free Martin is a real thing. Sorry you and the calf had to go through that and that your BIL is a worthless SOB.
I had no real problems getting her cornered and carrying her aside from the OMG she’s heavy! I’ve done that one a few times before with Rosebud and the first Calf Rowena threw here (out of season in June) was Idjet. He never did figure out gates and fences… 😂 at least it wasn’t far DH almost got out of the car to help me!
Also, I’m so sorry about the bull. Didn’t you adore that guy?
Gus was awesome! He was very well socialized and the biggest drawback was he had absolutely no fear of people. That made him very unpopular with the real farmers here as they have a lot of fear of male animals. If it’s a breeding male it’s inherently bad.
@micstrachan
Yep Sundays are now Pony Sunday 😊 so get those horse pics going!

Re calves: cows can twin calves but if one is small and weak and can't keep up unless humans step in it will die.

Also if one twin is a boy and one a girl the girl will be sterile, they call them Free Martins, if you get both boys or bothering girls they will be fine.
See this ^^^ is how you summarize stuff Kristen! 🤣 I’ve always sucked at summarizing.
