Just for fun

I'm not feeling well tonight but this made me laugh so I thought I would share.

I once had mice eat most of a bar of soap and then of course there is electric wiring (apparently a favorite snack).
Are you sure the oven is mouse-proof? Really sure?
I blocked up the opening in the back with 1/4” hardware cloth… it’s mouse proof, the stove top is still vulnerable though. I know this because we have been poop free and storing things like cakes etc inside the oven since I put the hardware cloth in… we had a consistent poop problem inside the oven prior to the HC installation.

So I've had a busy morning. Took a trashcan, half a wire coat hanger, a couple of boards, and an empty toilet paper roll and built a mousetrap. We'll see how it doesover the next week.

Warm day (pushing 60f) so have been out working on cleaning the coop. 5 wheelbarrows out and not finished yet. Had feathered helpers sporadically.

Cheetah kept calling out alerts. Doves, magpies, starlings....all slightly different sounds. Then I heard one I've never heard from him before: the pair of hawks that nested in the willow trees up the creek a ways are back. He used that sound EVERY time they circled past. All the hens froze and watched until hawk passed by. I'd been thinking him a bit of a teenage ding a ling, alerting to everything. Hearing that sound made me realize he was calling out aerial birds vs DANGEROUS aerial birds. Ladies have been crossing the yard via sheltered locations, until he started crowing again. Guessing is the all clear sound?
What a good boy! More than just a pretty face…

Our two dominant roosters got into it today. Cholo, lavender orpington, kicked our EE rooster's butt. Red has never suffered defeat until now but Cholo is twice his size. Mama cleaned him up and Red is in his usual spot on his roost so I believe he will be ok.
Hopefully all the pride issues are resolved and there isn’t a repeat.
