They are so darling. What a great job you are doing with them.Goodness it feels like the brooder is getting too small for the Hooligans. They have discovered that if they run fast enough and flap hard enough their little wings will lift their feet off the ground.
Bella in particular has mastered doing this deliberately rather than by accident. Bella was practicing flapping from day one and it is paying off. But the brooder is only 29” in each direction which seems not quite enough for flying. When I move them to the brooder box in the coop they will have 36+ inches. But that still feels small!
I am not sure whether to try and make something bigger or just wait until they are big enough to be free roaming in the Chicken Palace.
I don’t remember this being an issue with the Roadrunners. Maybe because there was only two of them.
Of course they are not always flying. Sometimes they take a rest and pretend to look grown-up. And sometimes they can barely keep their eyes open!
