Now that's just pissen mean, even to Kris! Those things are literal dinosaurs & definitely not user friendly. :plbb 🤣
I will take two dozen hatching eggs, and train them to attack the trespassers or in-laws… whichever seems most inconvenient to me after they arrive! Mwahahahah!!! I shall take over the entire island with my army of poultry, possibly mounted on the goats, if I can get enough of the Ferals to cooperate. And the store thought the turkeys were scaring off the customers? Wait until they meet the feral Emus and Cassowaries!😂😉

That sounds like a fantastic book/movie. I can see it now...:caf

The feeder issue for the Hooligans is reaching crisis point.
I filled the feeder at 3pm. By the time they went to bed about three and a half hours later they had emptied it.
Of course a lot is going on the floor and presumably they can tootle for it in the bedding - but I can’t see myself leaving the feeder empty.
This feeder is designed for chicks. The Roadrunners used it until they were fully integrated and eating with the others. I know there were only two Roadrunners and there are three Hooligans - but seriously, the Hooligans are not yet three weeks old.
Any ideas?

A couple more chick feeders? Or a larger one?

Yes. The next size up seems adult sized and will take a lot of room and is open at the top. I think I may need to make several smaller ones out of plastic bottles and have them dotted around. It is nuts how much these babies are packing away!

I think it's wonderful! Go babies! Eat yourselves silly!

Too cute!
The babies are roosting. Do you think they copied Diana and Maggie who you can see on the far right looking over and presumably hoping the Hooligans shut up soon so they can get some sleep. The Roadrunners always go to bed a little later.
I am guessing the babies will go back under the heat plate before it gets too dark but I love how grown-up they look preening on the branch.
“Look mama, we are big girls now!” :love

I think it's the minerals too. Hose water running across the ground is better than gutter water which is better than nipple bucket water.
Unless you are a goat… puddle water is great, and gutter/rain water is lovely as long as it doesn’t go in the rain barrel and is directly put into the RV tank. Store water at $1.40/gallon is acceptable, but farm water and system water are not drinkable… ever. Of course the preferred activity for using this expensive or painstakingly gathered resource is to knock it over with your tie out.

My eggs sell out the day they hit the store 15-20 dozen gone witching 24hrs… if people only knew what the chickens get into… they have water… good clean water which we have sometimes even bought from the store… they drink pee. Straight from the goat, or person, given the opportunity. DH found this out accidentally by peeing too near the chickens… you would think he was tossing out treats 🙄 we now have a minimum 50’ distance for outside pees from any chickens. I don’t think the medications he takes are transmissible that way… but better safe than sorry, and I don’t need to worry about petting chickens and where they have been quite so much!
