I would take the vet option, but then I always outsource chicken health matters because I don't know what to do.
I will certainly try that - I have already e-mailed her the videos - the office doesn't open until the morning so I don't know if she will feel able to help. Remember it isn't her area of expertise!

I'm still befuddled that so few of my byc friends have ready access to an avian specialist vet. The demand would be high and growing.

Iirc, your vet is excellent at working to close gaps in her expertise. She may well know some people to call.

I am trying to stay optimistic on that front. I am sure she sees budgies and lizards and other tiny creatures.
I am also trying to stay optimistic on the healing powers of a good night's sleep (for Bernadette and me!).
 
OMG, never knew that about foxtails. pretty much all animals are at risk! I don't beleive I have any on my property, but looking at the image in the link, I am pretty sure I've seen some in this area.

Poor little thing is very sore. At least the young heal faster than the old.
