Xzit update: I took her off the egg and was attempting to hold and pet her, but she jumped off me, ran to the box, jumped up on it, and went back setting on the egg. She’s stubborn as a Rock! (Well, she is a Rock, so….. )
Albeit a fake rock, but stubborn just the same! :old
Take the egg away! She doesn’t need it and I would hate for a half formed chick to be harmed if she half sets it 😟

Shenandoah’s egg that Xzit is setting on, isn’t fertile. Jaffar can’t rooster Shenandoah. She won’t let him go near her. But I’m removing the egg in a little while anyways. FYI

She will not lose interest if she has an egg. I would not like her going 40+ days broody. Not that she couldn't do it but I'm not certain it's a good idea. Phyllis went 30+ and I finally had to take all eggs from her and keep new ones from her on order for her to give up.
My silkies went 6 weeks in February/ march I wasn’t too unhappy as it was really cold this winter. I dragged them off twice daily to eat drink poop and then they would run back to their nest with little heater as they were warm.
