Nope because my carpet is far from clean, and worth nothing… absolutely thrashed, and they are still just as likel to deposit a slimy stinker on it… I’m sure the formula is much more complex and includes things like likelihood of a person stepping on it, size of the room for smell distribution, and many other factors known only to the chickens own digestive system!I have figured out the math: the odds of a hen dropping an unwanted fecal poop, is directly proportionate to the cleanliness or cost of the carpet! $$$![]()

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I knew once I started doing this there would be no going back. So I am now diving in and I hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride.
First of all let me tell you how we view our flock as that will help you to understand why we treat them like we do.
Our birds are our pets and we treat them as such. We do not care if someone is not laying eggs. They are welcome to stay at Fluffy Butt Acres until they pass naturally. (Now don't go telling them that! I would hate for word to get out) We do thoroughly enjoy the fresh eggs.
I plan to tell stories from the past as well as from today. I hope you all enjoy and will share stories of your flocks as well.
You stated you were giving her tube feedings and that contains fluids so she is likely getting enough but you can always give just water if your not doing that…I haven’t the leg is hard to assess because she is generally so weak. The vet noticed it was strange but nothing beyond that.
The vet and I agreed that job #1 was hydration and any kind of nutrient intake.
In a funny way the fact that I am worried about her leg may be a good sign that basic hydration is less of an issue. Though she does not drink!
I will see if I can get some pictures of the leg issue.
From adversity comes strength! Or, as my dad would say 'Builds Character'Maybe one day she will be top chicken - which would be quite something from the pathetic 3-week old in a plastic boot!
Ok so this is the calculation for the probability of an event:Nope because my carpet is far from clean, and worth nothing… absolutely thrashed, and they are still just as likel to deposit a slimy stinker on it… I’m sure the formula is much more complex and includes things like likelihood of a person stepping on it, size of the room for smell distribution, and many other factors known only to the chickens own digestive system!
HelloArent you guys on youtube? Im on youtube also
A true Statistician!!!Ok so this is the calculation for the probability of an event:
Divide the number of events by the number of possible outcomes. After determining the probability event and its corresponding outcomes, divide the total number of ways the event can occur by the total number of possible outcomes.
So you see for this you would need to know
1) number of possible outcomes in this case a good guesstimate
2) total number of ways the event can occur - one would need to guesstimate here
3) total number of possible outcomes - again a guesstimate
So any probability is really based upon a good guess - or the ‘Your guess is as good as mine’ theory![]()
No, never. None of my ISAs did.AwwwwwSo lovely
Did she ever go broody?
Statistical Process control - that course just about killed meA true Statistician!!!A woman after my heart
