Well he was sort of just shuffling his feet watching like I was! Then when it was over he went back to his usual thing. I find he doesn’t get involved no. The drama, he just watches to see what’s up.Good question!

Sorry I replied to RC, he was just shuffling around watching - when it ended he went back to his usual, tidbitting, looking around, scratching, looking around…Great play by play!!
What I am wondering is what was Mr. P. doing during the brawl?![]()
I was surprised that Rose jumped in! She has been making a play for status lately, she has chased off her mum Henny, and Curly, in fact at night she picks on poor Curly.Sometimes my beta hen will break up fights and she is a tough cookie, so that is the end of it!
Give her some baconI bought a thing for Maggie.
I am feeling guilty in advance because I really do want to block her out of the nest box.
It is for feeding squirrels. Here is Diana eating Maggie’s leftovers.
I feel good that Maggie got calories today as she ate a lot of corn.
We can work on a balanced diet later.

So, you have a GQ roo! All he has to do is stand around and look pretty?I was surprised that Rose jumped in! She has been making a play for status lately, she has chased off her mum Henny, and Curly, in fact at night she picks on poor Curly.

Yea it seems it’s the broodies that cause all the kerfuffle, I always know when they start to go broody because they get very aggressive. Not towards me but the other hens. This makes sense. I have never witnessed what I call a "flap fight," (flapping wings, chest bumping, feet raised aggressively and sometimes biting) except for when I have a broody off the nest. I have even had two broodies get in a full on fight, then go and settle back in the same nest happy as can be!
Apparently they settled whatever needed settling!
Do you do plumbing??Yes. They have also trained me to do all kinds of projects like fencing, roof fixing.
I asked because I have often heard people mention that roosters help keep the peace in a flock. I find the social lives of chickens so fascinating!Sorry I replied to RC, he was just shuffling around watching - when it ended he went back to his usual, tidbitting, looking around, scratching, looking around…
Hmmm, me thinks Lady F is going to give Hattie a run for her money in the Fluff department!
(It is truly amazing how many different shapes a chickens' bottom can come in!!!)
