They look happy pecking around the yard :) I hope you feel better soon!

So true!

What breed is Buttercup she is a lovely hen and happens to look like Biscotti’s twin and her breed is a bit of a question mark for me.
I would say she is a barnyard mix (I call her a mutt haha), but she does lay the most pretty blue eggs.

Powder has her eye on the sky, Cinnamon has her beak on treats.

Powder reminds me so much of my chickens too. They always want to look up in the sky for hawks and other flying predators and that is my favorite chicken behavior. I also have to keep an eye out for hawks too but they only look up at the sky if there is something in the sky.

Yes, something bigger than a step, a big log, or maybe even a table that would fit, where they have to land on it. With steps up to that?
My issue is one of space - that is only 4' wide x 10' long. It looks like I will have to cut down those roosts to 2.5' so that the Silkies are not endangered, and the big girls and Mr P can still get up onto those nest boxes.

I hope I feel better soon too. My little Coco is having trouble. I’m bringing her inside for the night. She’s stepping sideways like she’s dizzy 😵‍💫. Same as I am
Is she moulting? Dorothy was doing that - remember? ! had me all freaked out, but I think it was her pin feathers coming in that were painful on her legs and belly.

All birds have far better eyesight than humans :) They also will sleep with one side of their brain - this is why you cannot sneak up on geese when they are sleeping - they will have one eye always open - that side of the brain is still active.

Of course then there are Silkies who can't see anything with all those feathers! I trim back their head feathers so they can see (of course it still doesn't help them fly hahaha!).
