Aren’t they adorable?! So relaxed! It’s hard to imagine them having a pecking order.
Having seen Fluff kill and eat a snake, and see Wee Marty and Curly scrapping I know just how bad those calm relaxed silkies can be 😊

Not to mention Marty beating the crap out of me when I messed with her man 😁

Edit:
Come to think of it, I have only really seen those silkies fighting ! The other hens don’t fight at all…

I was looking at one of those portable AC units for the Hen House - it was so hot and humid last summer.

Will see what happens this summer - the one thing is that my Hen House room is built on the north west side of the barn and it heats up so much with the sun, and the sun in the summer doesn’t go down until near 10pm - so the sun shining on the cement block barn makes it extremely hot!

It’s nice in the winter (like today the sun shining in the window is lovely), too bad to sun goes down by 4:30 in the winter…

Today I tricked them all to come outside a bit with some scratch grain, but it was quite windy so they all ran back inside hahaha 😊

Can you plant something tall and leafy so it keeps the sun off the barn? We planted Tiger Grass around the house to help keep the sun off.

They definitely sound like real little personalities! :love

I have a tall pine tree but can’t really put anything close as I need access to the paddocks.

That front door in the photos I just posted is the west side of the barn, and that small window on the left side of the barn, is the hen house. The sun shines on that side all afternoon and evening.

In the past I have planted climbing green and yellow beans - the leaves shade the wall, I will do that again next summer if I can figure out a way to keep the plants safe from the chickens haha!

Supper is cooking….

Just waiting for the family to arrive, and supper to be put out 😊

Had some fun with the gang, Fluffy is the brave one coming outside for a change of scenery, Henny Penny also made a quick appearance.

I also threw some hay down for the kiddos to scratch through and I used a plank and upside down bucket for a roosting area, Mr P gave his approval!

Grandma is making gravy and biscuits. Begged her not too but nothing is stopping her. I'm going to make her mad in about 20 minutes. For the last few years I've gotten away from eating so much grease. It upsets my stomach. Grandma's gravy, it is swimming in it.
How did it taste 😊 I just grabbed the heart and liver of the turkey we have for supper - haha my BIL will be disappointed ha! Snooze ya lose! They should have come earlier!
