Star link took us from 5mb download with our old service to clocking over 300 (not consistently, but I don't think we've seen anything lower than 100). Anyway you look at it, HUGE improvement.

Awww so nice seeing that

Thanks for sharing I love seeing them out and about.

@BY Bob great job with the roof!
I also think Glynda will be ok squeezed in between other chickens and not far from the panel heater.

I do hope your interruption having to rush to your mother's wasn't caused by anything serious.

Is that the bantam you got some time before summer? Anyway she's very pretty like all Sebright. And look at this markings on the first two chicks' wings 💚. Do you know who is their dad ?
Erythromycin is what I was prescribed. Sorry, that does not help you.
Thank you again for your answer. I won't be able to use antibiotics without taking her to the vet, and I don't want to risk again the two hour drive to the clinic with an unwell hen.
How is Blanche today?
Thanks for asking Kelly. She was doing a bit better yesterday, and this morning she is quite active, she just came sprinting out of the coop and under the laurel tree.
I ended up deciding to rinse her with saline twice a day for a week. If it doesn't help, I don't think it will do any harm. I'll continue giving her vitamins and high protein food daily -can't do harm.
It's been so much ups and downs, that I will wait until there is a very significant evolution one or way or the other to talk again about her.

Good Progress
I made good progress on the roof today but had to run to my mom's around mid-day so could not finish. I will not be catching up on the thread this evening either. Sorry everyone.

Here is what I did get done in the roof.

To seal up the front of the roofline I am using 1/4 round plastic trim. It is the same height as the as the bend in the roof. I will be caulking the seam at the top of the roof to the 1/4 round to waterproof it. This also gives me something to square the roof with.

Nest i needed to cut the panels to length. I marked all the "humps" in one panel and then used a small piece of molding to enable me to complete the guide line across the sheet.

I then used the angle grinder to cut the panel to length.

Once cut I checked to make certain I had not screwed up before cutting the other 2.

Looks good.

As I need to cut 3 panels to the same length in order to cover the roof, I used the cut piece from the first panel to measure the other 2 to the same length.

Once I had the panels cut to length I needed to cut them to width. I placed them on the roof and marked them by marking the roofline from below. I also numbered them so i can get them back into the same place after I took them back off. View attachment 3370543

I managed to get everything cut correctly. Now I just need to wait for a day with good weather to screw it down and caulk it.

It will be a mighty handsome roof!

Did I mention I originally installed the heater like this so Betty would be warm in extreme cold because her feathers are not as efficient and creating a heat barrier because they are frizzled? And here we are with something I actually wanted happening. Except now I want Glynda by the heater.
I think Glynda's comb may still benefit with that in there. That was my thought at first - Betty does need it more than Glynda for body warmth. Also, at least for that night Glynda's not in the end spot. Is setting it in front of one of the windows for the winter out of the question?

So, we all know this one will show up again tomorrow.....Twirp and Cuckoo, an unusual pair, but as both are moulting (ladies, do it earlier in the fall, like in September), they were soaking up the sunshine while the wind was blocked.

Come to think of it, there were a lot of unusual match-ups yesterday. Pippa and Maizie were split up. Lark and Indigo were split up. PITA and Blanche were split up. Dynamics are shifting again. Will keep watching.
